Dr Disrespect’s Game Studio Offers a “Life Changing Opportunity”
Is Dr Disrespect really going to be opening a game studio? It sure sounds that way. We recently discussed how Dr Disrespect teased a new game idea, in a “Vertical Battle Royale”. Not finding joy in the current Battle Royale offerings, it sounds like Dr Disrespect is going to fix the problem himself. It’s not like he’s new to the world of gamedev either. He designed maps in Call of Duty before streaming and also designed a Rogue Company map recently. He’s a streamer that is pretty open about his plans and goals, and this could be a seriously huge move.
A Life-Changing Opportunity:
It sounds like Dr Disrespect isn’t tackling the Game Studio idea alone though. On August 10th, he made a huge announcement via the Champions Club website. He’s looking for a gaming studio head to “take the game industry by storm.” In this announcement, he also revealed his partner, BoomTV. Dr Disrespect has a pretty interesting idea and philosophy on game development, it sounds like. The Two-Time had this to say:
“Dr Disrespect in partnership with BoomTV is taking on the game industry by storm and incubating a new AA/AAA gaming studio that has a unique twist to it. The studio plans to forge a partnership with a select list of mega influencers and then work closely with them to launch their dream gaming title. Those gaming titles will either be incubated and developed OR partner/co develop with existing indie game developers and launched as mega titles.”
Now that is interesting. There are so many indie devs out there with tons of talent, but don’t always have the financing to put a huge, successful game out there. Figuring out what games “mega influencers” are after is interesting, too, that’s for sure. Hopefully, this leads to more than just Battle Royale/FPS games, but we’ll just have to see. But yes, Dr Disrespect is really looking to start his own game studio.
According to the Champions Club website, Dr Disrespect is taking this incredibly seriously. What sort of experience do you need to work as a Co-Founder with Dr Disrespect? These requirements:
- At least 5+ years experience as a producer in the PC / console game industry
- Demonstrable experience in developing and publishing AA+ or AAA games reaching at least 100k+ users
- Strong experience in project management, Agile management style; facilitating scrums, and sprints
- Demonstrable creative and innovative streak in past projects
- Prior experience with analytical tools and cohort analysis on consumer usage patterns
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment. Be able to compartmentalize.
- Familiarity with esports and influencer marketing is a plus
- Extroverted with excellent verbal & written communication skills
