Dr Disrespect Claims EA Banned Him Behind the Scenes
Dr Disrespect briefly talked about how EA banned him behind the scenes recently – a shadowban. A shadowban is when a company or entity bans a portion of the services for a player, so they don’t get the full experience. The idea is that the player doesn’t know they are banned. The Two-Time talked about how the Twitch ban caused a great deal of defamation for him and took some shots at EA for Dr Disrespect being banned after all the time they worked together. Long-time fans of Dr Disrespect probably remember him partnering with various FPS games like Call of Duty and Battlefield to promote their games. Those days seem to be over.
Dr Disrespect Talks Defamation and Being Banned By EA
Over the weekend, Dr Disrespect did something unusual, opening up a little bit about his Twitch ban. It’s not something he talks about often, nor does he refer to the streaming giant by name. During this stream, the Two-Time talked about him being on a list. “I’m on a list. That’s just touching the [surface]. Since the purple snake, scummy, ban, we have taken a hit on so many different things behind the scenes, champs. There’s a reason why Activision doesn’t do a Call of Duty partner [stream],” he said. “All of the stuff we did with EA, y’know. The connections. The relationships we had built over the years…”
It’s unusual to see one of the biggest streamers not be featured in the game genre he plays the most. When he’s had years of experience being a part of partnered streams and promoting upcoming FPS titles, it was unusual that the streamer wasn’t a part of the Battlefield 2042 press/preview event. During this stream, Dr Disrespect called out EA for having him banned, shadow, or otherwise.
He talked about how he dealt with tons of defamation. “So much defamation related to the ban that we’ve had to deal with, it’s insane. To not be involved with the Battlefield launch. First off, it’s been a year and a half. EA – don’t be pathetic. You’re talking about the two-time, back to back. I’m looking at trophies right over my left shoulder. Don’t be so pathetic and scared to death, holy s**t. It’s embarrassing.”
Ultimately, it’s clear that Dr Disrespect blames Twitch for this happening. The lawsuit is still very real, and it sounds like it’s led to quite a few decreases in partnerships with gaming companies. In time, this could change, but for now, Dr Disrespect has to keep streaming on YouTube and making a name for himself there. He had years of experience working with Activision and EA, but those days are done.
