DOTA 2’s Anime Now Has a Release Date
What a world we live in! Much like in real life, DOTA 2’s anime has a release date before League of Legends’ does. Dota: Dragon’s Blood is an eight-episode series based on the lore of one of the biggest esports in the world: DOTA 2! So when is the release date for DOTA 2’s anime? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered, as well as a brief plot synopsis.
The Story of Davion, Dragon Knight
DOTA 2’s lore is a rich, full world, and we’re glad to see it be explored in this manner. An eight episode series on Netflix, DOTA 2’s anime release date is going to be on March 25th, 2021. The story is focused on a mission handed down by Princess Mirana, to Davion, a Dragon Knight:
“The upcoming fantasy series tells the story of Davion, a renowned Dragon Knight devoted to wiping the scourge from the face of the world. Following encounters with a powerful, ancient eldwurm as well as the noble Princess Mirana on a secret mission of her own, Davion becomes embroiled in events much larger than he could have ever imagined.”
The reveal came courtesy of DOTA 2’s Twitter, where the anime release date was revealed, alongside a trailer. As for the animation of DOTA: Dragon’s Blood, it will be done by Studio MIR, of The Legend of Korra and the Netflix Voltron: Legendary Defender series. Sadly, we’ll have to wait a bit longer for League of Legends’ upcoming Arcane series.
Ashley Edward Miller is the screenwriter, and they previously worked on Thor, X-Men: First Class, and Fringe. One of those at least, was enjoyable. Sorry, the Thor movie was a snoozefest. However, the co-executive producer is Ryu Ki Hyun. They were the character designer and director of The Legend of Korra, so we’ve got high hopes. Either way, Dota 2 is getting an anime! It’s just funny that the League of Legends anime was announced first, but Dota’s is dropping first. So make sure you tune into Netflix next month! We’ll be watching too.
