Dignitas Rumored to Signing Huni to a $2.3 Million Extension
Amazing if True
Heo “Huni” Seung-hoon is in the process of finalizing a $2.3 million contract extension with Dignitas. This is according to League sources that informed ESPN today. That is $2.3 million in guaranteed money, beyond any sponsorships, stream funds, or tournament winnings. If this is true, Huni will be one of the top-paid players in League of Legends.
This would put him up there with Jung “Impact” Eon-yeong on Team Liquid. How much is Impact worth? In 2017, Impact signed a three-year deal with Team Liquid to receive 3.4 million dollars over the course of that contact. Considering how much money is in League of Legends, these figures are staggering.
As of this writing, Dignitas has declined to comment on this deal. Yet, as off-season begins, Huni and Lira were both on contracts scheduled to expire. There is no word on Nam “Lira” Tae-yoo, but the word is that Huni’s about to make an absolute mountain of money in League of Legends.
One of the Rifts MVPs
There’s no denying Huni’s star power or ability to perform in League of Legends. After Echo Fox’s removal from the LCS in September, they could not afford to keep Huni under contract. Enter Clutch Gaming (now Dignitas), who is he is presently signed with. With Clutch Gaming, he qualified for his fourth world championship, which is no mean feat.
Huni, alongside Fnatic took 1st in the Spring and Summer EU LCS for 2015, and 3rd/4th in that year’s Worlds. Perhaps his greatest feat was taking second place with SKT T1 back in 2017’s League World Championships. Huni has played all over the world and has succeeded with every team.
It’s fascinating to see where Huni started, as a practice partner for his team, not even a substitute. From there he went to join his first team, Fnatic. An incredibly hard worker, if this source is accurate, he’s going to be one of the top earners from a salary standpoint. Though Clutch Gaming did not make it all the way this year, it’s clear that Dignitas believes in the power of Huni, and want his aid in carrying the team in the 2020 year.
