Dignitas Is Back, Team Liquid’s Upset, More – CS:GO Daily Recap 9/19/2019
Welcome back everyone to another exciting day of CS:GO news! Today we’ve got a look at the return of the Dignitas CS:GO roster, a recap of GamerLegion’s monstrous improvement with Friberg at the GG.Bet Beijing Invitational, the 2-0 of Liquid by The Sharks during ECS Week 1, more on the ongoing dispute between G2 and CR4ZY, and more.
As always, we’ve got a lot to cover today, so let’s dive on in.
Diggy is Back!
Exciting news for Dignitas fans this weekend as the org announced on Twitter that a new Dignitas CS:GO roster is in the works.
The team cited the lack of good orgs in the scene, and asked players looking to put together a high caliber squad and looking to improve to apply, citing their success taking Clutch from near last to Worlds in League of Legends as proof they can make a great team.
So far, Boltz and K0nfig hinted at signing to the new Dignitas CS:GO squad, though many high-class players are likely to follow soon.
Small Team Upsets
While DIG was out looking for new players to sign, some smaller teams were making names for themselves across the scene.
GamerLegion, a tier two Germany org, was turning heads during the GG.Bet Beijing Invitational after taking out Heroic 16-0 and taking G2 to double OT on the final map of a best of three.
The team looks like a whole new squad with the stand-in of Friberg for the team. Fans have begged the org to do whatever it can to try and keep the famed entry fragger, something Heroic is likely regretting doing after that schlacking.
Elsewhere, Gamerzone, a minor Hungarian team, managed to take a map off MIBR before falling in a best of three series, while Irish player Conor showed up big in E-Rivals match against Mousesports.
While E-Rivals would lose the match, Conor came out with the highest rating in the game at 1.35, with the next closest being Mouse’s Ropz at 1.21.
Lastly, the big talk of the week was the surprise upset of Team Liquid by Sharks Esports who defeated the No. 1 team in the world in the ECS Semis on Tuesday with a 2-0 score.
While the match was somewhat close, the win shows just how much potential Sharks has as a team. They came from a no-name squad in 2017 to the cusp of breaking the top 30 in the world.
The next generation of talent is starting to emerge in the scene. We’ll likely see big-name teams try and pick up these players over the coming months.
For Liquid, the loss is their second upset after losing in the Major Quarter-Finals. Many have begun questioning if the squad’s time on top is coming to an end.
G2 Investigators
Over at G2 Esports, there’s drama between the team and CR4ZY, according to NeL, G2 is allegedly looking into the contracts for Nexa and Hunter after rumoredly discovering something being off with the team’s contracts with the players.
Exact details on what makes the contracts so sketchy are currently unclear, but we’ll keep you updated as we learn more.
Na’Vi Signings
Na’Vi continues to tease the announcement of their new fifth player on Twitter, with a little GIF you can stop to get a random player head on one of their jerseys.
While there are a lot of big-name players in there, you can also stop on the likes of Keanu Reeves on it, so the actual player may not be in the GIF.
We’ll keep you all updated as Na’Vi makes the announcement later.
That’s all we have for today, thanks for reading. We’ll be back tomorrow with more CS:GO news, so stay tuned!
