Dignitas Announces Return to the CSGO Scene
Only two months after announcing that they were looking to build a world-class roster, Dignitas finally appears to have found their team for CSGO.
According to a report from Dekay, the NA org will be signing a mostly European roster featuring Friberg, Xizt, F0rest, Hallzerk, with a fifth player still yet to be confirmed for the starting lineup.
The move will see part of the legendary five-man NiP lineup finally reunite after several years apart with Friberg, Xizt, and F0rest.
Hallzerk, meanwhile, has only spent time on small Norwegian rosters, and while his teams have looked pretty average for their level, he’s looked rather strong on the AWP, a position the team picked him up for.
A World-Class Retirement Home
If Dignitas was looking to make a world-beater CSGO roster, this is not it.
While the former NiP trio were some of the best in the game back in the day, that period has long past, and most of them look concerning close to retirement sometime soon.
Meanwhile, Hallzerk hasn’t played in an A-tier or higher tournament yet and has bombed out with his teams in any larger tournament qualifiers.
That’s not to say this team is awful; it surely can keep up with some of the upper teams in the world rankings.
But this must be a major disappointment for former fans of the org hoping for a big splash on return and gives credence to the belief that they waited too long to put a squad together.
Perhaps whoever they pick up for their fifth will help bring them to the next level, or maybe they feel reuniting the NiP trio will see a return to form for the three.
Either way, there’s a lot more questions than answers with this team reveal, and only time is going to tell whether they succeed in the long-term.
No GeT_RiGhT on Dignitas
The news of Xizt joining the squad is also likely to dampen hopes of fellow former NiP player GeT_RiGhT joining the squad, as Xizt will take on the IGL role for the team.
Many had hoped GeT_RiGhT would be joining after a commenting on how much he missed playing with F0rest, who had already been linked to a move to Dignitas, but it appears it’s not meant to be unless he switches roles on the team.
Dignitas and the players have yet to comment on Dekay’s report, but we’ll keep you updated as more information comes to light in the coming weeks.
