Diablo IV Files Added to the PlayStation Database by Activision, Is a Closed Alpha Coming Soon?
Just a couple of hours ago, Activision added a mysterious game to the PlayStation database — a respectable 43.9GB — which, as it turns out, is actually Diablo IV; well, at least a portion of the game which means that some sort of alpha testing might be coming sooner than we think. Everyone’s first guess was naturally tied to Call of Duty, but one user went a step further and actually did a bit of digging.
What he found amongst the many game-related assets is the Diablo IV logo in all its glory (to the excitement of many). This title was uploaded for both the PlayStation 4 and 5, and has a rating of 17+ which, interestingly enough, is in line with Diablo IV’s expected rating.
But what does this actually mean?
Something’s Coming Our Way
The fact that Diablo IV assets have been added to the PlayStation database means that some sort of testing is all but guaranteed. A full-fledged Diablo IV alpha probably isn’t in the cards given how the game isn’t expected to come out this year, but there’s a very good chance Blizzard intends to give gamers a more thorough glimpse at the gory world of Diablo much like they’ve done with Diablo: Immortal. This means that a closed-off segment of the game will potentially be available for testing (something akin to a demo).

In any case, it feels good knowing that we’re inching closer to its full release; these little tidbits are enough to assuage the hunger for some next-gen Diablo (for the time being, at least).
We don’t know a whole lot about this highly anticipated dungeon crawler, but we’ve been given enough information and a concrete enough preview to know it’ll be a legendary release in every sense of the word — worthy of this age-old intellectual property and in line with what most folks are expecting from Blizzard.
