Diablo II: Resurrected Open Beta Starts This Weekend

by in General | Aug, 11th 2021

Diablo II: Resurrected’s open beta heralds the return of a classic Diablo franchise. Diablo II: Resurrected has all the features and challenges you remember and love of the original, with updated graphics and quality-of-life improvements. But how can you play it? A pair of open beta weekends are upcoming for Diablo II: Resurrected, the first being exclusively for people who have already purchased the game. Here’s what you need to know about the upcoming tests. For those of us who have classic Diablo II save files, get ready to use those again!

Two Previews, Then Launch

The first open beta for Diablo II: Resurrected is the early access weekend, which begins on Aug. 13 at 10 a.m. PDT. No matter where you preordered the game from (Windows PC, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4), you will be able to access the game. The test will end on Aug. 16. The following weekend, we have the open beta for Diablo II: Resurrected and the Diablo Prime Evil Collection.

The next test begins on Aug. 20 at 10 a.m. PDT and will run through Aug. 22. During this time, all players can try out Diablo II: Resurrected’s beta by downloading the game on PC, Xbox, or PlayStation this weekend. This beta will also show off cross-progression between platforms, so feel free to give that a spin. But what can you do during this pair of tests?

In addition to the Barbarian, Amazon, and Sorceress of previous tests, you will now be able to play the Paladin and Druid! Online multiplayer gameplay will also open up, so you and up to eight players can batter down the gates of Hell. You can also duel in PVP matches if that’s your cup of tea. Sadly, the whole game isn’t available. You can play through the first two acts of the game, but there is no level cap. You can test your builds as much as you want during this time, thanks to that. Finally, on Sept. 23, Diablo II: Resurrected will launch, where players can hop on with their friends and relive past adventures again.

We also recently posted about some builds you may want to try in Diablo II: Resurrected!

Writers Note: During this article, I have discussed the game’s technical achievements and updates, but I can’t leave out the environment in which this game, and other Activision-Blizzard titles, were created. We in no way condone the actions of Blizzard Employees that have come to light in the recent lawsuit.
