Dev1ce Leaves Astralis for NiP in Most Shocking CSGO Transfer of 2021
Dev1ce leaves Astralis – I honestly never expected to be writing that headline. But, it’s true – the 25-year-old Danish AWPer has ended his tenure at Astralis. One of the best CSGO players to pick up an AWP has signed for Ninjas in Pyjamas earlier today, wrapping up a transfer sensation unlike any other!
This really is the end of an era! Astralis will surely miss their leader, the player that was there from the very beginning; the player that helped them become the most decorated CSGO team of all time.
Usually, with surprising transfers such as this one, people are quick to jump on the wild assumptions train. But, we know the full story behind Dev1ce’s move to NiP. From the looks of things, the move was a combination of Astralis’ poor start to the year and Dev1ce’s desire to be closer to his hometown of Stockholm.
“I’ve lived in Sweden for some time now, speaking the language, and I’m really hyped about this young and exciting NIP project.” Dev1ce said. “To join one of the most successful organizations, where so many legends have played, inspires me. Just see what LeBron James achieved with the Lakers for instance, and with the Major in Stockholm coming up, bringing that home to Sweden is my number one goal.”

As Dev1ce leaves Astralis, it’s undoubtedly one the biggest news in esports today! Which is to be expected, really. After all, we’re talking about one of the greatest players to ever grace the competitive CSGO scene! Not only has dev1ce won four Majors in total, but three of them were also back-to-back! If the Rio Major hadn’t been canceled, perhaps that number would have been even higher!
On top of that, Dev1ce participated in eight Majors with Astralis (15 in total) and reached the top four in all but one occasion, the disheartening ELEAGUE Major 2018. While he was never labeled as the best CSGO player in the world, Dev1ce has been in the top three in five of the last six years. His only “outside of top three” year was 2017 when he was ranked fifth.
The question is now: what can we expect from NiP going forward?
This is the question that’s tingling everyone’s imagination right about now. What can NiP do on the upcoming events now that they’ve replaced nawwk with Dev1ce? Well, we’ll have to wait quite a bit to see Dev1ce in action with his new team. More precisely, the Danes’ debut event will be the third season of Flashpoint. Best of all, Astralis is among the participants too and the two could very easily end up playing a head-to-head match. Talk about baptism by fire for the 25-year-old Danish AWPer, huh?
