Dauntless Is Hitting Next-Gen Update Sooner Than You Think
Dauntless, the free-to-play action RPG from Phoenix Lab (and a most stylish Monster Hunter “clone”) will be updated for next-gen consoles on December 2! This means that PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S|X owners will be able to experience the game in a completely new light!
Now, while that might sound like an overly theatrical statement, it is by no means incorrect: some of these updates are truly game-changing! And, well, if you don’t believe us, take a look for yourself!
An Incredible, Comprehensive Refresh
To say that the dev team exceeded all expectations would truly be an understatement! We’ll go over the most important bits and pieces down below:
- simply claim and download the enhanced, next-gen version of Dauntless from the PlayStation Store. As for those on Xbox, they’ll automatically receive the update via Smart Delivery.
- The developers are touting exceptionally improved visuals on all three next-gen platforms and, well, they’re not lying! Heck, certain areas of Dauntless will look almost completely different and, fortunately, it’s all for the better! Beautiful new lighting, improved draw distances, volumetric fog, and a myriad of other effects and quality-of-life updates will be added to the game, including reworked environment textures, trees, water, grass, and everything in between!
- PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X will support dynamic 4K resolution at 60 FPS. Xbox Series S, on the other hand, will cap out at a noticeably lower (but still totally sufficient) 1440p 60FPS.
- Game load times will be cut down by a whopping 90%!
- 36 new achievements and trophies will also be added to the game, including a shiny new Platinum on PS5!
- Speaking of Sony’s latest and greatest console, Dauntless will now make use of both the dynamic adaptive triggers and integrated sound from the DualSense controller. 3D audio will also be supported for bonus immersion.
- Last but certainly not least, the December 2 update will bring “seamless cross-generation and full cross-platform support.” We’re talking seven different platforms here! Sublime stuff!
All in all, if you’re super into Dauntless and happen to game on a next-gen console, you definitely have a reason to celebrate! These are huge, comprehensive updates and they’ll make the game better in nearly every possible way.
