CSGO Players and Personalities Tease More Details on Riot’s Project A
Big news comes from within the CSGO community today. Former pro player HenryG revealed on Twitter he recently got to spend the day at Riot Games’ EU headquarters trying out their latest game, codenamed Project A.
HenryG’s Thoughts
From his time with the game, Henry concluded that Project A for Riot Games is, “essentially a round-based, 5on5, tactical shooter (most similar to CS:GO as a twitter surface-level comparison), with the better (and slightly diluted) elements of class/hero based FPS games such as Overwatch or Apex Legends, for example,” with a Search and Destroy mode reminiscent of the traditional CSGO gameplay, complete with attackers and defenders swapping at the half.
HenryG also noted that the gameplay and gun mechanics were “super slick and satisfying.” The abilities that fans worried about from the trailer mostly needed to be purchased at the beginning of rounds from the same in-game economy pool you buy weapons from. He also remarked that guns felt varied and balanced in the build of the game he played on. HenryG also noted the map design was very Counter-Strike-esque, with the familiar lanes and chokepoints the title is known for.
Closing out his thoughts, Henry noted that he couldn’t speak more on the specifics of the game right now. However, he was excited about the game’s current direction and claimed it had the potential to be one of the biggest titles in the shooter genre. He stated, “Project A is the best game I have played since CSGO.”
Other Pros Speak Out
Other members of the CSGO community tried Project A, too. Jarosław “pashaBiceps” Jarząbkowski, formerly of Virtus.Pro, also tried the game with other players, including NEO. While short on words, he noted he already had a favorite character who is already a “beast” at the game.
Several others also gave their opinion on the title from their time with it. Still, the biggest news came from a translation by Linepro, former Overwatch player for TSM. He translated a statement by a writer from Russian site DTF. The statement revealed that the game will be free to play with the option to buy cosmetics, just like League of Legends. More details will come to light when they drop their written piece on March 2.
Project A was one of if not the most hyped games revealed at Riot’s 10-year celebration. We can’t wait to get our hands on more details. As always, we’ll continue to follow the game’s development as more information comes to light. Stay tuned.
