CR4ZY Sells Team, Envy Roster Moves, More – CSGO Recap 1/14/2020
Welcome back everyone to another exciting day of CSGO news! Today we’ve got a look at CR4ZY selling CSGO team, changes in the squad over at Envy, a look at Cloud9’s little streak since picking up ATK, and more.
As always, we’ve got a lot to cover today, so let’s dive on in.
CR4ZY Turn Around
It appears CR4ZY has finally caved in and decided that selling their CSGO team is the right call, according to a report from HLTV.org. A deal was struck with a currently unnamed North American organization to transfer the squad to them. The transfer expected to be made official to the public in the coming days.
We don’t yet know if CR4ZY plans to stay in CSGO after the sale. But, it wouldn’t be surprising to see them go given the skyrocketing costs of running a competitive team nowadays. Speculation, of course, has run rampant since the report, with many talks of TSM or Rogue looking to pick up the squad.
We’ll continue to keep you all covered as this story develops over the coming days.
Roster Changes at Envy
Speaking of North American orgs, the eighth-ranked NA org Envy appears to be picking up activity again finally. In almost four months, they only participated in one event in the IEM Katowice NA Open Qualifiers.
The team supposedly is signing Calyx as a new rifler for the squad from Windigo, while also bringing on former BIG coach LEGIJA to fill that role. While it’s nice to see some life in an otherwise silent org, the moves still leave an additional hole in the roster that needs to be filled before they can play. Yay and Android remain on the inactive roster.
Cloud9 On a Run with New Squad
Following their pick-up of ATK, Cloud9 has been on an absolute tear in the qualifiers for IEM Katowice and DreamHack Leipzig. They went 15-2 in maps since the roster donned the blue and white early last week.
While they haven’t faced much stiff competition at the qualifiers, MIBR was the only ranked team they matched up against. It’s a big positive for fans who’ve sat through mediocrity and failure of the several other line-ups the org has tried since winning the Boston Major at the start of 2018.
This could be the start of a new era of success for the NA org. Though, we’ll need to wait and see how they stack up against stronger competition first.
Furia Signs Female Roster
While C9 has been tearing it up in NA, over in Brazil, we’ve seen some expansion in the female CSGO scene. FURIA has now signed an all-female line-up to their organization. Formerly of Keyd Stars, the squad is one of the top female line-ups in the scene and has an excellent chance to run at the title with the collapse of Besiktas.
It’s interesting to see given the well-documented lack of return on women’s CSGO given the underdevelopment of the scene. But, it’s always good to know orgs are still pushing to develop it.
That’s all we have for today, thanks for reading. We’ll be back later this week with more exciting CSGO news, so stay tuned.
