Combo Breaker to Host Star-Studded FGC Event Look Alive

by in Fighting Game News | May, 5th 2021

Combo Breaker is making waves with this upcoming FGC event, Look Alive. Rick “The Houdou” Thiher and his crew put together a yearly tournament that is one of this writer’s all-time favorites. Sadly, COVID-19 has made fighting game tournaments harder to put together, since people can’t come together safely. That said, online gaming is still a big deal. The Hadou announced Combo Breaker’s “Look Alive”, which is a multi-day festival, with more than 80 Tournament Organizers taking part. No matter what you want from the FGC, they have you covered.

Combo Breaker is Showing Up and Showing Out:

On May 29th and 30th, Combo Breaker launches this two-day event, Look Alive. This is such an exciting event. Over 80 TOs and FGC groups are coming together for this online-only event. Whether you are after money matches, combo showcases, interviews, merch, documentaries, or just heated fighting game action, Combo Breaker’s got you covered.

This is a moment where the FGC is coming together, without respect to coast, to which org/player thinks they’re the top of the tops. It’s all for the love of the game, and that’s beautiful. So many awesome orgs, teams, event groups, and individual FGC personalities are involved. Next Level Battle Circuit, Vampire Arcadia, Da Purple Sharpie, Sajam, the list just goes on and on. The tweet can be seen here to view the full list of partners and participants.

The Combo Breaker team had this to say:

COVID-19 left a giant offline-gatherings hole in the Fighting Game Community. For over a year, the community turned to online organizers to rally players and bring us all together. The tournaments they produced became the lifeblood of the fighting game community. Their events became how we connect. To celebrate them, Combo Breaker is presenting Look Alive, powered by ASTRO Gaming, a digital festival produced in collaboration with many of the organizers, players, and content creators that inspired the fighting game community since we last got together. For keeping us alive, we thank you.

We’re all in together. No coasts, no kings. Just pure, undiluted love of fighting games. Personally, this writer is hoping to see some classics of the FGC: Vampire Savior, Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo, and maybe some wackier games like Sengoku BASARA and Hokuto no Ken. This is going to be a lot of fun to watch, and if you aren’t already, you should make sure to follow Team Sp00ky on Twitch, which is where Combo Breaker’s Look Alive is going down at.
