Cloud9 Removes Sixless for PUBG Mobile Drama
Once upon a time, Brandon Cole “Sixless” Patterson was a member of Cloud 9’s PUBG Mobile team. Somehow, Sixless managed to enrage the whole Indian PUBG Mobile community, with a series of pretty vile, unfortunate messages on his social media.
12th Place Indeed
Quite frankly, it’s disgusting. It’s one thing to think that one region is better than the other (EG: Korea/China in League of Legends), but calling a whole region garbage at a global level is disappointing in a way that I have a hard time putting into words. But I’m going to try. It’s one thing to point out toxicity in a community. That’s a fair shout, lots of online gaming communities are toxic waste dumps.
Now, I’m not saying it’s okay for the retaliation to be hate speech or hateful comments towards Sixless for what he did. Two wrongs don’t make a right, after all. But saying that Scout, Jonathan and Daljit are the only “worthy individuals that can represent India in PUBG Mobile on an international level” is just rude, not hateful. Sixless has managed to rile up quite a few members of the PUBG Mobile community here.
That’s not all he said though. He shot at Team SouL and Mortal, mocking them for getting 12th place in the last PMCO. He said, “FNC and Entity are the only good teams who can do anything internationally, the rest of them will just end up at the 12th position every time.” Frankly, he was being terribly rude. It was message after message on his Instagram feed. We hate to see it.
It’s one thing to have opinions and talk trash. Trash talk is normal. As long as it doesn’t lead to hateful nonsense, it’s fine. It’s just really petty, sad talk like “You know what’s funny…the only people mad in my dms are Indians whaaaaattt every single other region is agreeing with me :)” and I don’t even have words for it.
To call an entire region trash because you don’t think they’re very good is more than a little ridiculous. It’s with that in mind that Cloud 9 removed him from their team. Hopefully, he won’t see himself suddenly show up with another organization. The Instagram feed is very easy to see online. It’s pretty darn disappointing.
Going through comments discussing this news is probably the worst idea I’ve ever had. One enlightened person said that “He [Sixless] is the best player in na so he has every right to be toxic also what he said is true though he didn’t start the feud.”
What?! Since when does skill allow someone to be an absolute knob? Being in a position of power and influence in your community should mean that the player ought to be more aware of what they say, as people look up to them.
It’s sincerely unfortunate that this sort of drama has cropped up. The day will come when people realize that their actions and words both have consequences. It would be a shame if Sixless immediately found himself on another team. Just because he’s skilled doesn’t mean he can be a jerk to anyone, person or community.
Can’t we just be competitive without being jerks about it? That’s the dream right there. It doesn’t matter what Sixless or anyone else thinks of the PUBG Mobile players, regardless of region. I hope that we can all move on as an esports community and grow together.
