Cloakzy Leaving FaZe – Announces Departure from Team
Tfue isn’t the only player looking to leave FaZe Clan apparently. In a post on Twitter on the 22nd, the team announced that, in agreement with Cloakzy, they would be looking for a transfer to another team for the star Fortnite player. Cloakzy leaving FaZe may have taken fans by surprise, but the writing has been on the walls.
Confusion Over Cloakzy Leaving FaZe
In a stream shortly following the announcement, Cloakzy discussed his reasons for leaving, stating that he’d been looking to leave the team for the last six months, before the whole situation with Tfue, though for the same issues with the contract they provide players.
He also noted that he didn’t want to be in another organization, and that FaZe had taken to Twitter with the statement without first consulting him, after months of refusing to let him go. Likely this has to do with his failure to qualify for the Fortnite World Cup earlier this month, meaning the team had a significantly less financial reason to keep him if he was already trying to leave.
Even with these issues, Cloakzy did state that he did enjoy his time on the team, and that, “there’s nothing wrong with FaZe… they’re still a great org.”
Following the announcement and Cloakzy’s stream revelation, FaZe was quick to respond to accusations that they were making decisions without Cloakzy’s knowledge. “FaZe will not pursue a transfer on our own, and allow Cloak to represent himself moving forward. We will retain his player rights should he wish to be moved elsewhere at a later date,” the team said in a statement on Twitter.
It looks like both the org and Cloakzy are looking to cause as little trouble for each other as possible, and FaZe in particular has seemed much quicker to respond to issues with its statements this time around, seemingly learning their lesson from the whole ordeal with Tfue going on.
Here’s hoping Cloakzy leaving FaZe doesn’t cause more trouble for the org as it’s already been quite the year for FaZe Clan.
