CLG Replaces Crown with Pobelter on Starting LCS Roster
CLG has had an awful start to Spring Split this season. Currently sitting in dead last at 1-7 near the halfway point, the team has looked markedly worse. Other teams continue to improve each week, leaving the team two wins down from the next lowest team and sitting well outside the playoff picture.
With most of their players performing below expectations and their Summer Split 2019 form, drastic changes need to happen if the team wants to salvage the season. For CLG management, that starts with a breath of fresh but familiar air in the mid lane. CLG has swapped out their Korean import Crown for Team Liquid substitute Pobelter.
Announcing the decision on Twitter, the team noted they have a lot to work on and weren’t giving up on this split. They asked fans to continue supporting the team ahead of their matches against Cloud9 and FlyQuest this weekend.
A Return to Glory
The return of Pobelter to CLG has been widely praised by the wider community. Many nostalgically remembered his short tenure on the team in Summer 2015, in which they won their first-ever LCS title.
Others praised CLG’s decision to bring in a native North American mid laner after an offseason that saw only one make it onto a starting roster with Goldenglue on Golden Guardians.
Hopes are high for Pobelter’s return to the team in getting things back on track. However, he won’t have much time to reintegrate into the line-up before the team enters into a must-win situation. While only four wins down from second place, it’s going to be a long climb to get into the playoffs.
Will he turn the tide and get the team out of the gutter they’ve found themselves in? To find out, we’ll have to see how the team starts performing with him this weekend.
Stay tuned for our upcoming recap and predictions article featuring our expectations for the team heading into Week 5.
