Chicago Huntsmen Returns to Spotlight, Wins Seattle Home Series

by in Call of Duty | May, 26th 2020

The Call of Duty League returned to form this past weekend with the most standard and predictable event in a very long time. The Call of Duty League Seattle Home Series results are in and you will find that this event went exactly according to plan for one team in particular.

Call of Duty League Returned With a Predictable Event

After two weeks since the previous event, the Call of Duty League returned this past weekend with the Seattle Surge Home Series Weekend. The event was the most predictable one in a long time with our predictions in the breakdown last week being mostly on point, which isn’t usually the case.

This makes sense, though, after following up on the wild Florida Home Series Weekend a couple of weeks ago. That event was fairly substantial in terms of unpredictability as no one expected some of the best teams in the league to fall victim to the lower-tiered ones.

That said, the craziness of that event, and some of the other ones in the recent past, ended with the Call of Duty League Seattle Home Series results. Though it was predictable, many teams gave it their best performance yet, so it is still worth checking out all of the action that happened this weekend.

Seattle Home Series Teams and Groups

For the Call of Duty League Seattle Home Series Weekend, the hosts were of course the Seattle Surge, which is interesting as we have mostly only had some of the top teams in the league be the hosts for events. But that didn’t make too much of a difference after all.

You can find the eight teams that participated in the Seattle Home Series Weekend Friday, May 22 through Sunday, May 24 below:

  • Chicago Huntsmen
  • Paris Legion
  • Los Angeles Guerrillas
  • London Royal Ravens
  • OpTic Gaming LA
  • Minnesota Rokkr
  • New York Subliners
  • Seattle Surge

Those eight teams were broken up into two groups per the usual format for the Call of Duty League Home Series Weekend events. Group A had London Royal Ravens, Los Angeles Guerrillas, the hosts of the event Seattle Surge, and the New York Subliners.

On the other hand, the more competitive and interesting Group B had Chicago Huntsmen, Paris Legion, OpTic Gaming Los Angeles, and Minnesota Rokkr. Two of the top five teams in the league were in this group while it also had OpTic Gaming who made it to the finals match last event and seemed to be on an upturn.

Day 1 Results: Group Stage Begins

As standard with any event, the Call of Duty League Seattle Home Series results began with the first day of the three-day event: Friday. Friday, May 22, marked the start of the group stage of the event where teams from each group participated in a single match against a fellow group competitor.

The first match of the entire event took place on Friday, seeing Chicago Huntsmen take on Paris Legion in the first match for Group B as well. In our predictions, we noted that this would for sure see Chicago come out on top as the winner and that was certainly the case, as the Huntsmen got a fairly easy three rounds to one win here.

That was followed by the match between the Los Angeles Guerrillas and the London Royal Ravens to kick off the Group A events. In this interesting match, some of the changes that Guerrillas implemented recently have started to pay off as they put up a pretty good fight in this match.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to see them win, though, as the London Royal Ravens won this highly contested match-three rounds to two. This was followed by the third match of the event and one that was a bit unpredictable as OpTic Gaming LA faced off against Minnesota Rokkr.

In the previous event that was hosted by Florida Mutineers, Minnesota Rokkr fell quite flat (though not as flat as the hosts of that particular tournament) and lost without ever making it to the finals portion of the tournament, which was quite shocking, to say the least.

But Minnesota tried to rise above that devastating defeat in the previous event and was able to take down OpTic Gaming. But this match was highly contested like the previous one, with OpTic giving Rokkr a run for its money with the results being three rounds to two in favor of Minnesota.

The final match of the night was also the marquee one for the event as the hosts, Seattle Surge, took on the New York Subliners. The Subliners are an interesting team that has been slowly but steadily getting better over time, so it was no surprise to see them rather easily beat the tournament hosts three rounds to one to end the night.

Day 2 Results: Group Stage Concludes

With day one out of the way, day two was the conclusion of the group stage as the teams competed in their second match of the event as well as any tiebreakers that were necessary to make it so that only two teams from each of the two groups would move onto the final day of competition.

The first matchup was an anticipated one of Minnesota Rokkr versus the Chicago Huntsmen. While we certainly could have seen the Rokkr step up and beat Chicago, this isn’t something that we predicted and we were right not to as Chicago destroyed Minnesota three rounds to zero.

This cemented Chicago Huntsmen as the winner of their group and the first team to move onto the final day. This led to the next match where New York Subliners took on London Royal Ravens. We aren’t sure where the confidence from the first day went as New York suddenly lost three rounds to nothing.

This cemented the London Royal Ravens as the second team to be guaranteed a spot in the finals portion of the event. This was followed by OpTic Gaming LA taking on Paris Legions; two teams who had to win their matches if they wanted a chance at moving on.

OpTic Gaming LA showed up once again, despite their previous loss against Minnesota, and won three rounds to one. This was followed by the hosts Seattle Surge taking on Los Angeles Guerrillas and the Guerrillas showed that they are on their way to no longer being the last place team, beating the hosts three rounds to one.

Finally, we came to a really anticipated matchup that happened to be the first tiebreaker match of the weekend. It was OpTic Gaming Los Angeles and Minnesota Rokkr in a rematch for the weekend. As we expected, OpTic was able to pull through and find its strength to overcome Minnesota in an overwhelming manner, winning three rounds to nothing.

Finally, the last match of day two was the other tiebreaker, seeing Los Angeles Guerrillas take on New York Subliners. This was the former’s chance to make it to the finals and prove itself but the Subliners were just too much for them. They gave it their all but ultimately lost three rounds to one.

Day 3 Results: A Winner Is Crowned

Then day three came around and was the final day of the event. The finals began with the first of two matches to determine who would make it to the final match. The first one up was OpTic Gaming LA versus London Royal Ravens, a rematch between these two from the previous event.

They were both heated in the previous event, seeing London defeat OpTic in their first match at the Florida event before losing to OpTic in day two and not being able to make it to the finals. It was a tough match and both teams gave it their all, but London Royal Ravens won the match in the end.

On the other side of the finals, it was New York Subliners versus Chicago Huntsmen. New York has beaten Chicago once before and we were all shocked by it, but they were unable to channel that same energy this time around. If they had, we would have had a much different outcome.

Instead, Chicago Huntsmen were able to win this match rather easily three rounds to one. This resulted in a final match of the event with Chicago Huntsmen against London Royal Ravens, an alternative outcome to what we predicted where it would be Chicago versus OpTic instead.

In the end, though, it didn’t matter really which way this went as it ended with the same Seattle Home Series results: Chicago Huntsmen won this match with some ease, three rounds to one and became the winner for the event.

Chicago Huntsmen Easily Dominates the Seattle Home Series Results

With the Seattle Home Series results now in, we can see that this was a return to form for the Chicago Huntsmen as they went unmatched and undefeated in this event, winning it all. This is something that we haven’t seen from Chicago in quite some time as they have faltered recently.

But with the addition of Prestinni to the starting lineup, the twin power of Prestinni and Arcitys was impressive and they have found new strength to move forward into the second half of the season. With that easy victory overall, the Chicago Huntsmen have earned themselves the coveted four-match victory that you can get from a Home Series Weekend.

This was more than enough to secure the team’s place at the top of the leaderboard as we head into the next event in the near future where the team will likely be challenged by one of the most complex and difficult-looking events that we have seen to date.

New Call of Duty League Standings

For now, though, we have the new Call of Duty League standings that have changed after the Seattle Surge Home Series Weekend. You can find the full list from first place to last place below, with some pretty exciting changes happening overall.

  • Chicago Huntsmen
  • Atlanta FaZe
  • Dallas Empire
  • Minnesota Rokkr
  • Florida Mutineers
  • London Royal Ravens
  • OpTic Gaming LA
  • Paris Legion
  • New York Subliners
  • Toronto Ultra
  • Seattle Surge
  • Los Angeles Guerrillas

Though many of the places are still the same, Chicago Huntsmen has moved its way back to the top of the pack, at least for now. This is likely to change in the next event, but it is a necessary move for them nonetheless to make up for some of the previous losses.

On the other hand, the middle portion of the leaderboard is more hotly contested than ever before as teams like London and OpTic are slowly moving their way to contest Minnesota and Florida for the top five spots. These standings are likely to shift even further in the next event that will take place in two weeks.

Minnesota Returns to Hosting Position in Next Event

Two weeks from now, players will reconvene for the next event in the Call of Duty League: the Minnesota Rokkr Home Series Weekend. This is the first Home Series for the top five team, but it is also the first time that a team has ever hosted two events in the Call of Duty League.

While this is their first Home Series event to host, Minnesota Rokkr was the host for the launch weekend event in January that kicked off the first season of the league. As such, this is an exciting event just for that but it is also more amazing for the lineup of teams that will be there.

The Minnesota Rokkr event is easily the most exciting one ever because the top five teams in the league — literally all five of them — will be competing in this hotly contested tournament. You can find all eight teams that will be there below:

  • Toronto Ultra
  • Los Angeles Guerrillas
  • Atlanta FaZe
  • Seattle Surge
  • Florida Mutineers
  • Chicago Huntsmen
  • Dallas Empire
  • Minnesota Rokkr: Hosts

That event will happen two weeks from now: Friday, June 5 through Sunday, June 7. We can’t wait to see how this event turns out as it could be the place that we finally see the long-awaited matchup between Chicago Huntsmen and Atlanta FaZe. Stay tuned for more information about this amazing tournament in the near future.
