CaptainZack and Ally: A Confession Reignites Controversy
It’s been over a month since the controversy around Ally and CaptainZack erupted, yet the controversy around their relationship continues to build.
This time, however, the focus is not on Ally, but young 17-year old CaptainZack, who has come out admitting to blackmail and match-fixing.
In a TwitLonger post a week ago, CaptainZack came out admitting to having Ally throw matches under threat of revealing their relationship.
Claiming he was trying to push Ally away and get him to break up with Zack, The young Smash star had asked his then-boyfriend to throw matches against Zackray at Prime Saga and against Nairo at Momocon.
Zack also claimed jealousy of Ally’s constant success while Zack struggled with the launch of Smash Ultimate last year, and cited a feeling of discomfort in their relationship as additional reasons for getting Ally to throw the games.
Community Reaction
The Smash community immediately erupted in anger over what CaptainZack had done, with many calling for a lifetime ban from the competitive scene after this and the trolling stunt he performed at EVO the year before.
2GG, the company that runs the Smash tournament at Momocon and Prime Saga, denounced Zack’s actions and issued him a permanent ban from all tournaments they run, citing disappointment in his decision to ruin the competitive integrity of the tournament.
Effective immediately, CaptainZack will be banned from competing at all 2GG events due to match fixing at Prime Saga and MomoCon 2019. Both events ran by us.

Match fixing is wrong and hurts the integrity and spirit of competition. Don’t do it.
He’s also been banned from participating at SmashCon and been dropped by his sponsoring org Polar Ace Esports, and could potentially be banned from other future events.
We have decided to cut ties with @CaptainZack_ effective immediately for blackmail, match fixing, and irresponsible behavior. We will release a statement in the following days with more details regarding our decision.

Community outrage was also high over the global rankings for the Smash competitive scene from Smash.GG, which announced it would exclude Ally from its global rankings, though still include matches against him in determining other player’s elo.
Many pointed to the unfair nature of allowing two thrown matches to be utilized in determining player ranks and called on Smash.vGG to exclude his matches from being calculated into the system, though these calls were unheaded.
