Call of Duty Warzone Original Verdansk Map Is Never Coming Back

Call of Duty Warzone is one of the biggest battle royale games in the world and a large part of the popularity for this title has to do with the amazing Verdansk map that it has. But it looks like the Call of Duty Warzone original Verdansk map might not have a hopeful future ahead of it.

Future of the Original Verdansk Map Revealed

As you probably already know, Warzone has a brand new map this week that players will now be using to play the main battle royale game modes on. With this switch to the new Verdansk 84 map, it has some players wondering what is going to happen with the Call of Duty Warzone original Verdansk map.

Well, this is something that the developer behind the battle royale game, Raven Software, knows is a question on players’ minds, so it has been addressed already. In the studio broadcast video for season 3 of Warzone and Black Ops Cold War, there were many issues tackled.

With the release of such a huge season like this third one connecting Black Ops Cold War and Call of Duty Warzone to one another, there are a lot of unknowns and uncertainties in the community. This video took care of many of these, including what is going to happen to the first Verdansk map.

Amos Hodge, the associate creative director for Raven Software and Call of Duty Warzone, noted in the video what the future of the original Verdansk map is going to be. And to be honest, the outlook for that beloved location is not looking so hot these days.

Warzone Original Verdansk Map Is Never Coming Back

Hodge made it pretty crystal clear that the Call of Duty Warzone original Verdansk map is never coming back to the game, ever. At the time, players didn’t know it but they would never be able to play on this map in that particular state ever again as it is now gone for good.

That means that the points of interests that are gone now, the time of year that it was taking place in, and the original modern day setting are likely gone for good. Those features will never come back to Verdansk, at least not in the way that it was in the past.

Hodge further stated that players will never play the Call of Duty Warzone original Verdansk map in that state ever again. This is the key part that is interesting to us as it might leave the door open for the map to come back in some way in the future.

There is the chance that we could see it come back for some limited time mode or some other game mode entirely at some point. Maybe if we get another Modern Warfare title, there is a possibility of modern Verdansk making a return to the series.

Modern Day Verdansk Was Removed This Week

But, more than likely, we can take these statements at face value and know that the modern day Verdansk that launched with the game over a year ago and stuck with the title throughout this period of time is gone for good. If we do get another modern Verdansk, it will probably be something totally different at that point.

Any future Verdansk location would likely be totally different from the Call of Duty Warzone original Verdansk map. It would probably contain its own unique points of interest and time period as well. As such, what we once loved to play is gone for good and that is likely going to be a hard point to accept for some players.

With the Call of Duty Warzone original Verdansk map officially gone now, it is time for a new version of the map to take its place. As we expected, the nuclear event came and went this week, offering players the chance to experience it multiple times if they’d like over the course of a period of time.

During that time, players were able to play on Verdansk one last time and experience a unique battle royale mode where everything was going crazy and dead players would turn into super powered zombies that could then take down the other players in the match.

Verdansk 84 Map Is Here Now!

In the end, the conclusion came with the nukes striking the map finally after so many rumors and leaks, destroying the map as we know it. This paved the way for the season 3 map of Verdansk that is known as Verdansk 84. This new version, inspired by Black Ops Cold War, is set in 1984.

It comes with the style and feel of the 1980’s, complete with new locations and changes to some of the existing ones. There are seven new areas on the map in this version, with several other returning locales looking quite a bit different from how they did in the modern day.

It is available right now in season 3 of Warzone and allows you to relearn, and fall in love with Verdansk all over again. It also sets the foundation for what is going to happen with Warzone in the future. It seems that Verdansk is here to stay, for now, as the main huge map but it will change over time.

Perhaps once a year around this time in the spring, the map will shift once more for another year to center around the latest mainline Call of Duty title that was released in the previous fall. If this is the case, it will be really interesting to see Verdansk next year.

This year will likely see the release of Sledgehammer Games’ new Call of Duty title, which we are hearing is a World War II sequel game, so the Verdansk of the 1940’s would be really different from what we know today. But that is something that we will have to wait and see for now. If you love the new Verdansk 84 map, we recommend you savor it while it is still here.
