Call of Duty Warzone Mini Royale Trios Leads the Playlist Update This Week
Once again, it is time to start a new week and the latest announcements in the Call of Duty franchise to arrive. As we still await the release of Black Ops Cold War, the playlists and updates this week are still minimal. But they are led by the Call of Duty Warzone Mini Royale Trios mode.
Latest Weekly Playlists Announced
The latest weekly playlists and other announcements for the Call of Duty franchise are here, courtesy of the Activision games blog as always. This week is a little bit better than the last couple of weeks, mainly due to some events later on.
But otherwise, this is a pretty standard week overall that includes some returning and new game modes for players to check out across the three main titles these days: Call of Duty Modern Warfare, Warzone battle royale, and Mobile.
Those three games will soon be joined by Black Ops Cold War, which had a pretty big week last week and this week with the alpha that happened this past weekend. Players on the PS4 platform only could jump in and get the first glimpse of the online multiplayer action.
It was the first chance to see how the multiplayer would compare to the Modern Warfare experience. In particular, this author had a great time doing plenty of matches in the regular Team Deathmatch, Domination, and Kill Confirmed modes plus the new Combined Arms: Domination large team mode.
But if you are still looking for some Call of Duty action this week even though the alpha test is over, you’re in luck as some new playlists will be dropping across the three main games this week. Without further ado, let’s dive right in and take a look.
What’s Happening in Modern Warfare
Starting with Modern Warfare, a few playlists will drop this week for a limited-time only. Shoot the Shiptember has been the main playlist that has been featured in the game all month long, but that will change this week.
Even though the month isn’t over just yet, the Shoot the Shiptember playlist is now changing into two different game modes. Before, this playlist was all about allowing players to play on Shipment and Shoot House 24/7 whenever they wanted without having to worry about playing on other maps.
That said, Infinity Ward is changing it up this week by separating Shoot the Shiptember playlist and just making two separate playlists. Those two will be Shoot House 24/7 and Shipment 24/7, allowing players to pick further which of their favorites they want to play on.
If you are a fan of either map over the other one, you can now pick only one for your game modes. There are various standard multiplayer modes available in both of these playlists like Team Deathmatch, Domination, and the other regular modes you would find on these maps.
While not too wild, the separation of these two maps means that players will at least be able to pick their favorite and keep playing it for the time being. We only expect these to be around for a little while, though, so get in there and check them out while you still can.
Another playlist this week is a new one that blends a couple of modes into a Moshpit. It is the Deathmatch Domination + Drop Zone Moshpit. These are two different game modes available in this playlist for fans of either of them.
Starting with Deathmatch Domination, this one is a blend of both game modes where you can earn points for your team by capturing the objective, holding it and taking out your enemies. This is an excellent hybrid for those players who like both of the game modes.
On the other hand, Drop Zone is a Hardpoint-like experience where you can hold an objective to earn points to win the match. However, no one has access to killstreaks in this game mode unless they hold the point in which care packages will drop with them in tow.
For those of you who are Gunfight fans, the playlist this week is the Gunfight 3v3 Snipers mode. This is a highly competitive take on the mode where two teams of three compete in rounds where they only have one life to live, but the catch this time is that the weapon pool is nothing but sniper rifles.
If you love sniping, this is the mode for you, but if you don’t, then this is probably one that you can skip. It is otherwise the normal competitive Gunfight experience but with the twist of only featuring snipers. With the small maps, you’ll need to be careful as reloading too long will be dangerous.
New Items in the Store
A new week means that there are some new items that you can pick up in the store for a limited time. The first of these new items is a bundle centered around the fan-favorite character Ghost. Ghost gets a new skin this week in the Beyond the Pale bundle.
This awesome bundle comes with the slick new Dreadwood Ghost skin plus some other goodies. The other items include the Spanish Moss legendary and Old Road weapon blueprints, a new watch, calling card, emblem, spray, quip, weapon charm, and gesture.
The other new bundle this week is the Notice Me IV bundle that is the latest in this line of bundle types. For this fourth iteration, you are going to get the bright and colorful Epic Showcase sniper rifle weapon blueprint that has some high damage, extra range, and better accuracy.
In addition to the weapon blueprint, you will also get a new weapon charm, calling card, and emblem in this small but noteworthy bundle. Both of these bundles will only be available in the store for a limited time, so be sure to pick either of them up now if you are interested before they leave.
Warzone Mini Royale Trios Arrives
For those of you who like Call of Duty Warzone, or only play this free-to-play title, one main playlist will be joining the normal game modes this week. That playlist is the new Warzone Mini Royale Trios game mode that is a twist on the normal battle royale experience.
We have had a similar playlist to Warzone Mini Royale Trios once before, but this is another take. This special twist on the normal battle royale matches is described as only the first and last five minutes of a battle royale match.
It has shorter 10-minute matches that are smaller takes on the normal longer matches with more players. This time around, though, it is all about the three-player teams, instead of four-player squads.
Warzone Mini Royale Trios will be much faster than your normal battle royale matches with an intense pace that creates a chaotic gameplay experience that is unlike anything else in Warzone to date. The initial release of Mini Royale made many in the community want it as a permanent addition, so this return is welcome.
But if the strange, chaotic Warzone Mini Royale Trios playlist isn’t your thing, other game modes will be available this week in battle royale, but they are just the standard ones. You will have normal battle royale solos, duos, trios, quads, and Plunder Quads available this week.
Double XP Weekend Once Again
Whether or not you are a fan of Modern Warfare or Call of Duty Warzone or both, there is something special that both games will benefit from this week. That is the new double experience weekend that will happen this upcoming weekend, likely in celebration of the month’s final weekend.
This season has been going strong. The double XP weekend will help players still looking to reach the final tier in the battle pass before the season is over. It will only be around for a couple of days, so be sure to plan to take full advantage of this.
The double XP weekend will be the full experience, offering all three types of doubled experience during the weekend. There will be double the normal experience that you gain plus double the weapon XP so you can get those nice skins and double the battle pass tier progression.
Again, all three of these will be available for both Warzone and Modern Warfare, so even the free-to-play battle royale players will be able to enjoy the extra XP offered this weekend. It will all begin this Friday, Sept. 25 at 10 a.m. PT and will run through Monday, Sept. 28, at 10 a.m. PT, so you have about three days to take advantage of this.
Call of Duty Mobile Playlists
When it comes to Call of Duty Mobile, the game’s current 10th season is still going strong with the limited-time event The Hunt for Makarov that went live late last week. Players can continue to try and find the infamous Call of Duty villain while earning some special prizes in the process.
If you can complete the search for Makarov this week, you will get some new items, including the new Feral Stalker M4 skin. To do so, you will need to earn explore points for the minigame section of the Hunt for Makarov event where you look for him in the jungle.
You will be able to earn explore points by just playing the multiplayer and battle royale matches as you always do. That said, there is a brand new game mode that is available this week in multiplayer that you may want to check out, in addition to the new Terminal map.
The new game mode is called Headquarters and is a twist on the usual Hardpoint mode. It is a much harder version of the Hardpoint mode where you have to work together as a team to win. Like Hardpoint, there is a single rotating point that will move around the map.
Both teams will attempt to capture the point but doing so is where the twist comes into play. Once a team has captured a point, the other team cannot take that point from them at all. Instead, they will have to either eliminate the defending team or destroy the Headquarters point with their weapons.
As for the capturing team, the point will stick around for 50 seconds, so they will have to defend it for as long as possible. Once you capture, though, your team loses all respawns and will have only one life left for each of them.
If the enemy team takes everyone out that is defending, it is the end of that capture point. The first team to reach the required number of points or whoever has the most at the end of this extremely challenging game mode will win it all.
Last but not least, the High Alert multiplayer perk is now available in Call of Duty Mobile this week. To get it for free, you will need to complete the seasonal Vigilance challenge set or spend some money on it later. This perk can be a great help in the new Headquarters game mode.
