Call of Duty Warzone Duos Stimulus, More Drop This Week

by in Call of Duty | Jul, 21st 2020

The beginning of the week means that new announcements have been released for the Call of Duty universe. The various games in the series that are relevant right now have new content, changes, and more coming this week, the biggest of which is the new Warzone Duos Stimulus mode.

New Call of Duty Announcements Dropped

Like almost every week in the past, Activision has released its latest blog post announcing all of the new changes and updates for major Call of Duty titles like Modern Warfare, Warzone, Mobile, and more. These include new game modes, playlists, seasonal events, and so on.

Unlike last week, though, this week is much more interesting than that one was as this week has some interesting and new content, and isn’t just a total rehash of what we have had before. That said, though, if you are expecting some massive changes this week, you may be disappointed.

For the most part, it is only new playlists and a couple of new game modes for players to choose from in the various games. If you are a Call of Duty Mobile fan, you will find that there is something special happening in that space this week. Without further ado, let’s jump in and take a look.

What’s New This Week: 3v3 Gunfight Snipers and Reinfected Ground War

This week, kicking off the new announcements are a couple of new playlists that will be available in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare multiplayer. The first is the new take on the popular, competitive mode Gunfight. This week, players will have the chance to try out the new 3v3 Gunfight Snipers Only mode.

This one is fairly self-explanatory compared to past Gunfight game modes. Still, it is a twist on the normal format of two on two where players are actually in teams of three, instead, and the weapon arsenal is highly limited to just one thing alone: sniper rifles.

It is similar to normal Gunfight in that all players in the match will have the same gear, weapon, and perks. This evens the playing field, but this particular playlist only allows for sniper rifles for weapons, which means that we hope that you are an excellent sniper.

If you aren’t, you may want to stay away from this mode. Regardless, 3v3 Gunfight Snipers might prove to be a difficult challenge, even for the most accurate players. This is because of the tiny maps that Gunfight is normally used for.

Sniping on one of them will be rather difficult and will likely lead to some chaotic situations. Players will need to coordinate with teammates to cover each other and prepare for those slower-paced matches where everyone is afraid to be the first one to do something.

If Gunfight isn’t your thing, on the other end of the spectrum is a returning Ground War game mode. Those of you who are missing Zombies in Call of Duty can whet your appetite some with the Reinfected Ground War mode. This one is a returning fan-favorite take on the large team battles.

Reinfected Ground War takes two of the best modes in Modern Warfare and mashes them together. You have the large team battles of Ground War, but the focus becomes surviving against a potentially massive team of zombie players that are trying to take you out. Both of these modes will only be available for a limited time.

New Items and Store Sale

It wouldn’t be a new week in Call of Duty without some new items to purchase in one of the in-game stores. Modern Warfare has a couple of new bundles that you can get this week. The first is the Earth Expeditionary Force bundle that includes a new Outrider skin for Charly and more.

The bundle also includes the legendary Colonial Standard LMG, a watch, weapon charm, calling card, and emblem. If that isn’t your thing, you might be interested in the Racing Series: Mach 8 bundle. This is a new series of cosmetic bundles, and this one has two new weapon blueprints.

Those blueprints are the Autoclave SMG and the Winner’s Circle handgun, along with two new vehicle skins that you can use in Warzone. You can also get the Start Your Engines vehicle horn, which is unique and will blast a different sound when using your vehicle’s horn.

The new season in Modern Warfare and Warzone is still going strong, but some of you might want to pick up some extra battle pass tiers to get you to those awesome new rewards this season faster. You might be happy to know that a tiers sale is going on right now, too.

You will be able to pick up tiers in the battle pass for 100 Call of Duty points each (around a dollar USD), a significant discount on the usual 150 points for each tier. This sale begins later today, Tuesday, July 21, and will only last through July 27 at 10 am PT. Tier bundles will be discounted as well during this.

Call of Duty Warzone Duos Stimulus Announced

If you were awaiting a second stimulus check, perhaps Call of Duty will appease you in the meantime with the hilariously named Call of Duty Warzone Duos Stimulus game mode. This one is a brand new multiplayer mode that you will be able to check out this week in battle royale.

As you might expect, this game mode gives players a little boost of sorts that changes up the ecosystem of a battle royale match. For the most part, this is a standard duos match where you and your partner are fighting to see who will be the last team standing at the end of the match.

The only difference this time around is if you have enough cash in your possession when eliminated. You will immediately redeploy into the match without needing to visit the Gulag prison or have your partner bring you back into the match.

Unfortunately, the amount of cash that you will need for this hasn’t been revealed just yet, but it will likely be around how much you need to redeploy a teammate in a normal battle royale match. This is an interesting take that is literally immediate as you will be redeployed nearly instantly after death.

It isn’t known if the normal Gulag system will still be in place or not in Call of Duty Warzone Duos Stimulus, though, for those players who don’t have enough cash to come back into the match immediately.

However, this does mean that there will be many players in Warzone Duos Stimulus respawning over and over, so be sure to watch the skies for any enemies you take out who could be coming back for round two. If the Warzone Duos Stimulus mode isn’t your thing, there are others this week.

Other than that one, the game modes are standard this week, including battle royale solos, normal duos, trios, quads, and Plunder Quads. For the Modern Warfare players, there will also be the Shoot the Ship and Cranked playlist return this week.

Shoot the Ship is the fan-favorite mode that brings together Shoot House and more for an awesome playlist, while Cranked is the crazy Team Deathmatch mode where you have a short amount of time to get your next kill or risk exploding when the timer runs out.

Call of Duty Mobile Solstice Awakened Event Begins

On the Call of Duty Mobile side of things, a lot is going on this week as a brand new seasonal event starts. The new Call of Duty Mobile Solstice Awakened event kicks off this week, and you will be able to check it out as one of the main features of Season 8, Forge.

Solstice Awakened includes two featured playlists that you can use to complete matches and earn rewards. Some of these items even include epic cosmetic skins like the Forge-themed Man-O-War assault rifle skin that you can get for free just by playing the event.

If that isn’t enough for you, there are also some new seasonal missions that you can do in Season 8 this week. These missions have multiple steps to them that include different tasks with a special reward for each of them. If you complete all of the tasks in the mission, you will get some even greater goodies.

Some of the recently added items that you can get through the seasonal missions include the KRM-262 shotgun through the Frenzy Killer mission or the Captain Arctic Blizzard soldier through the Connoisseur mission. These will only be around for Season 8, so be sure to complete them while you can.

Black Ops 4 Playlist Changes

There are a surprising number of things happening in Black Ops 4 this week, which is a little more than the usual updated weekly playlists and the like. All players will still be able to earn double merits in Blackout battle royale and double the tiers in the Black Market.

And if that isn’t enough, double experience and weapon experience will begin in multiplayer and Zombies this Thursday and run for a short time through July 30. The featured multiplayer playlist this week is Half-Off Heist, where players will find that purchases in the match are 50% off.

Beyond just Half-Off Heist with double experience included, the other multiplayer playlists this week are Nuketown, Barebones Moshpit, Bolt-Action Barebones Moshpit, and Mercenary Deathmatch Moshpit. For Zombies players, they have Classified this week.

And for those of you who would rather play Blackout battle royale over Warzone, the playlists this week are Hot and Heavy (the standard blend of Hot Pursuit and Heavy Metal Heroes) plus Alcatraz Portals Quads, normal quads, duos, and solos.

Call of Duty League Enters Its Final Home Series

For those interested in the Call of Duty League, the league will have its final Home Series Weekend event this weekend. The Toronto Ultra Home Series will cap off a very flexible and strange first season for the pro league and look to be the very best one.

Dallas Empire took the win this past weekend in the penultimate tournament of the season and set the stage for what looks to be a crazy one this weekend. With the top four teams all there competing plus four more teams hoping to rise through the ranks before the end, we expect to see everyone’s A-game.

Here are the eight teams that will be competing this weekend:

  • Atlanta FaZe
  • Chicago Huntsmen
  • Dallas Empire
  • Florida Mutineers
  • Minnesota Rokkr
  • Seattle Surge
  • OpTic Gaming LA
  • Toronto Ultra

The eight teams split into two groups, with one group much more stacked than the other. This place is where we will surely see the rematch of Dallas and Florida from last weekend, plus other potential matches like Atlanta and Chicago, the possible rise of OpTic back into the top eight, and more.

We fully expect this upcoming Toronto Ultra Home Series to cap off the season with the best event yet. It will begin Friday, July 24 through the weekend, ending on Sunday, July 26. Be sure to stay tuned for later this week as we give our full predictions and hopes for what will happen here.
