Call of Duty Vanguard Open Beta Access: How to Get Into the Beta Without a Pre-Order

by in Call of Duty | Aug, 20th 2021

Call of Duty Vanguard is the next mainline entry in the long-running annualized franchise, developed by Sledgehammer Games. With the Vanguard reveal in Warzone, it was announced that there would be a Call of Duty Vanguard open beta sometime in the near future.

Call of Duty Vanguard Beta Access Period Announced

The Call of Duty Vanguard open beta will offer players the chance to check out the 2021 entry early and get an idea of what the game and gameplay will be like. With the switch back to the World War II time period, this is something that has not been too common in the games.

The last time that we had a WWII game was in 2017 with Sledgehammer’s previous title, and it was in the prior decade before that with Treyarch’s World at War. With this setting being so uncommon at this point in the series, it is understandable that players would want to test it out first.

Fortunately, like most of the other Call of Duty games in recent years, Activision and Sledgehammer will give you the chance to do so with the Call of Duty Vanguard open beta. Little details are known about the actual beta content itself, but we do know how to get into it.

The Call of Duty Vanguard open beta dates are yet to be announced at this point nor has the content of this test. We expect that there will only be multiplayer available in the test period, but how many of the maps will be available for players to use?

Furthermore, it is an open beta, meaning that everyone on all platforms will get the chance to play it, but it looks like the connections between Activision and PlayStation will continue with Vanguard. The PS4 and PS5 versions will have early access to the test as well as the players who pre-order.

How to Get Into the Beta

Here’s what you need to know about how to get into the Call of Duty Vanguard open beta. As mentioned, it is presumed that, like Cold War last year, all players who are interested will have the chance to jump into the beta without having to spend any actual money on the upcoming game.

However, the details are scarce for now on how this will work. It is possible that those who pre-order the game will simply have early access into the test period, like a day or two extra to play, but there is also the chance that there will be more than one beta test.

There could be one that is open for every single player and platform out there, but a weekend or two before that, that is only open to those who have a beta code from pre-ordering the game. The joy of jumping into a brand new game without having ever played it before could be lost on those who miss out on the first test or early access.

That is why if you pre-order any version of the game, you will be able to get early access into the Call of Duty Vanguard open beta in whatever way that pans out. But what if you do not want to pre-order the game right now? This is understandable since you might find that you do not like the gameplay after trying the beta test.

If this is the case and you still want early access, fortunately, there is one way to do so. There is going to be a Call of Duty Vanguard open beta code giveaway that will happen during the Call of Duty League Championship 2021 event.

On Sunday, August 22, the winner of the 2021 season of the Call of Duty League will be determined and around 25,000 beta codes will be given away during the event. All you need to do is connect your YouTube account to your COD account and watch the live stream on the official league channel for a chance to win.

There is also the likelihood that there will be other free beta access codes that will be given out through pro players, streamers, Twitch streams, and so on, so there is the possibility that this will not be the only place to have that happen. Also, if you are on PlayStation, you will probably have some early access in your own way.

When Will the Vanguard Beta Period Happen?

Though the Call of Duty Vanguard open beta dates has not been announced at this time, we do have an idea of when it might happen. Given that we are already approaching the tail end of August, it is unlikely that it is happening this month or else it would have been already announced.

Instead, it is most likely to happen sometime in September or potentially October. Given that it releases in November, I think that early October about a month before its release date of November 5 would be the latest that it should happen.

Most likely, it will happen over the course of a couple of different weekends, with one for PlayStation users early, another period for pre-order bonuses and beta codes, and then the last section for everyone. Regardless, the beta dates should be announced ahead of time to give everyone plenty of time to prepare.

As mentioned, the beta test will happen on all platforms that the game is coming out on, which is basically everything except Switch. It will be cross-gen, like Cold War, and released on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series, Xbox One, and PC through Battle.net. Call of Duty Vanguard will release on November 5, 2021, so we are nearly two months away from its launch.
