Call of Duty Pro Teams Hiding Slide Cancel Bug
It’s been a rough couple of months for the Call of Duty pro scene. Players have attacked teams, the league and the development team for problems with the game ahead of its franchise relaunch.
They’ve even begun attacking each other and the community over these issues. Accuracy called out both in a tweet claiming, “Everyone in this community is extremely biased and won’t do something to make the game better if they think it has a chance to make them worse.”
The statement was just the start. Jkap came out swinging with a tweet calling out Accuracy for the irony of him complaining about teams not reporting bugs. He noted, “Dudes knew about the slide cancel (an obvious unintended movement bug) since day 1 and rather than make it public to try to get it fixed, they kept it a secret to stay ahead.”

The new slide cancel bug, shown by YouTuber VVaby, allows players to stop their slide whenever they wish and quickly reposition or engage a fight they usually couldn’t take due to it allowing faster ADS.
A similar version of the move has existed in previous versions of Call of Duty. It led to much pro frustration over being unable to fight back against it beyond abusing the bug themselves.
The return of the slide cancel bug alone is enough of a problem for players to deal with alone. Still, Accuracy not reporting it to the developers while reporting others that his team doesn’t utilize shows bias and an attempt to push the game meta in their favor.
Censor of the New York Subliners replying to another pro not seeing the problem with the slide cancel bug existing in the game commented on how complicated and button-heavy the game felt with such exploits available, tweeting,
“I see where you come from Preston but I think the game shouldn’t have this. Makes me think we’re playing super smash bro’s pressing combos to do special moves lol. The dolphin dive was perfect.”
Developer Infinity Ward still has time to fix the issue ahead of the game’s franchise system launch. But, this constant infighting in the scene and the number of problems (including a lack of advertising even in-game for the league’s launch) show worrying signs for a franchise league that hasn’t opened its inaugural season yet.
