Activision and Infinity Ward are at it again with their partnership with Twitch and various content creators around the world. We already saw one collaboration for free goodies in Call of Duty Modern Warfare last month and it is happening again right now.

Modern Warfare Twitch Drops Now Available

Several Call of Duty Modern Warfare Twitch Drops are available right now for the game. There is a handful of free stuff, including brand new, exclusive cosmetic items that you can get anywhere else.

If couldn’t enjoy the Call of Duty Modern Warfare Twitch Drops last month, we have the lowdown for you so you can know what these are all about. Twitch Drops is a system where players in the community can get rewarded for using Twitch.

The rewards that the player gets comes from watching various content creators on Twitch. They usually apply directly to the game that the streamer is currently playing. We have seen this service provided before, specifically, for games like Hearthstone.

Also, the latest entry in the massive Call of Duty franchise is known for rebooting the Modern Warfare series and there have been free goodies already. Besides the recent update that released Season 1 and the largest free content drop in series history, there have been Twitch Drops before.

What Items You Can Get

Players can get up to four free items just for tuning in and watching some of the best content creators out there. The first of these is a double experience item that ensures you get double experience in multiplayer and the various modes for 30 minutes.

While 30 minutes isn’t a whole lot of time, the double experience is welcome. It is only the weakest of the four items that you can get through the Call of Duty Modern Warfare Twitch Drops. The second item is much more valuable as a brand-new cosmetic item.

The second item is a Wings of Valor emblem that you won’t find anywhere else. This emblem is sharp and features a triangular shape with purple and orange-ish yellow being the main colors. It is a sleek emblem that is great for showing off to other players online.

The third item is a Best in Class spray that can be applied in multiplayer matches to show off to enemies and teammates alike. The spray itself has a green, purple, and yellow aesthetic and says Top Gun.

Lastly, the fourth and final free item is the Hand Cannon animated calling card. It is excellent for showing off online since it has a nice effect to it.

How the Items Work

Though these items are entirely free to earn, there is a little bit of work to put into earning them. You can only get these Twitch Drops by watching some official affiliated streamers on Twitch as they are live in the game.

This is the only way to earn these free items. Thankfully, you are guaranteed these items as long as you stick to the requirements. It all has to do with how long you spend watching each of the streamers while they are live on Twitch.

Each of the items requires more and more hours of watching eligible streamers on Twitch before you can earn them in the game for free. It begins with the short double experience token.

You can earn the double experience token by watching one of the eligible streamers for at least one hour. Doing so will grant you this item for use in multiplayer. From there, it only goes up for the rest of the free goodies that you can get.

We highly recommend aiming for the Wings of Valor emblem. You are guaranteed to receive this item as long as you double your initial watch time for the double experience token.

You need to watch one of the eligible streamers for at least two hours to receive that emblem. For the Best in Class spray cosmetic item, you must watch streamers for three hours.

Finally, we have the Hand Cannon animated calling card. For this final item, you must watch one of the official streamers who are partnered for this event for four hours.

The entire Call of Duty Modern Warfare Twitch Drops event runs until Tuesday, December 10 at 12 pm PT. That is the deadline for watching any of the eligible streamers. Of course, there steps to take first before gaining these awesome rewards.

What You Need to Do to Earn Modern Warfare Twitch Drops

You can’t just show up and get the rewards without first linking your Call of Duty account. This is pretty simple to do. You may have already done this step previously.

Though the account isn’t required for playing the game in multiplayer and online, it is necessary for one other important feature besides the Call of Duty Modern Warfare Twitch Drops. You need the account for participating in the cross-play functionality that links all three platforms together.

If you don’t have an account, make sure to make one first. Once you have, link that account with your Twitch account. Go to Twitch account settings and link the two accounts to start earning rewards.

The last step is to start watching some of the eligible streamers who are online currently. You aren’t going to want to watch old streams but the ones that are currently live. We don’t have a full list of the official streaming partners, but there is something you can do.

Your best bet is to find the game category on the Twitch website. You will see some of the top streamers playing that game currently. We recommend clicking on ones with the most viewers. They are likely to be one of the affiliated streamers for this event.

When you select one of the streams, look for the tag that notes that Twitch Drops are enabled for that stream. If you don’t see that, then you are watching someone who will not count towards the rewards offered.

There are a couple of things worth noting about this whole situation. With previous games that offered Twitch Drops, some of them allowed the player to accumulate hours over time and not have to do all of it at once. This means you could watch an hour here, get one of the rewards and watch the rest later.

We aren’t entirely sure if this is the case for this particular Twitch Drops event, but it is possible. That would be great, so you wouldn’t have to watch all four hours of the Twitch Drops consecutively and with the same streamer only.

This is the third Twitch Drops event from Activision and Infinity Ward. The first one happened right at the launch and allowed players to get some sweet rewards. The other one happened last month on Veteran’s Day for that day only.
