Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Camo Glitch Has a Fix Coming

by in Call of Duty | Jan, 21st 2020

The Call of Duty series has been known for its impressive camo and weapon skins that players will aim towards unlocking. These skins are typically the crowning jewel of the games in terms of progression, as it allows you to show off to everyone how much time you’ve put into the game.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare allows players to earn various skins for their favorite weapons. From the gold to platinum skins to hard-to-earn Damascus skins, camo skins are a badge of pride.

However, even something useful and beloved can become a detriment to players in the case of bugs. One bug is causing major problems for players trying to use camo skins like the gold and platinum ones.

Player Posts Reddit Thread About Modern Warfare Camo Glitch

A Reddit user posted a recent thread on the official sub-Reddit page for the game regarding it. The user posted about the Modern Warfare camo glare and stated it needs to be looked at because it “happens on most maps” and in most windows.

To accompany the post from Reddit user cammywrightlad, they also posted a short clip from a recent match they. Though the clip runs for 16 seconds, it doesn’t take long to show the Modern Warfare camo glitch and why it needs fixing.

Glare on the platinum camo needs looking at, happens on most maps in most windows. from r/modernwarfare

The clip shows the player in one of the buildings of a map during a match. They approach the window that looks outside across the map. At this point, the game looks normal for all intents and purposes. But, the issue becomes immediately clear once they aim down the sights.

When zooming in with their weapon, you see a sharp and bright glare appear on the screen, which makes it impossible to see anything. It also makes it impossible to aim at enemies through the window.

At this time, the Modern Warfare camo glitch does seem relegated to players aiming down the sights on most windows on most maps. It reportedly affects players with a camo skin equipped on their weapon like gold or platinum.

The size of the glare is understandable because of the wide and tall window. The second half of the clip shows the Reddit user go in the next room, turn, and look at the window in that room.

A lot narrower than the window in the previous room, but the Modern Warfare camo glitch exists. It affects a smaller range of the screen, but it still makes it nearly impossible to aim through the window and fire at enemies.

With a massive issue like this, it didn’t take long for this thread to go viral with thousands of likes and hundreds of comments. Many of which were trolling and not helpful.

Some stated the player needs to get out of the windows and stop aiming down the sights. While a temporary fix, it does make it so that players can’t fire from far off as some players prefer to do.

Developer Confirms Fix for Modern Warfare Camo Glitch

Once you get past the trolling comments, an official response from one of the developers at Infinity Ward exists. The developer who goes by the Reddit username artpeasant responds frequently on there.

Artpeasant noted that the developer already “fixed this” Modern Warfare camo glitch issue. Most of the time, the developer is aware of the issue or is looking into fixing it.

However, the bug fix hasn’t been issued yet to the servers. The camo glitch fix will be “coming out in a near-future update,” according to the Infinity Ward developer. However, we don’t know when. Traditionally, patches apply every other week or so, but we aren’t sure when the next update will come.

What to Do Until Bug Fix Update Releases

Because of this, players need to use a workaround until then. There are a few ways to do this.

You can fix it by removing camo skins from your weapons. This is unfortunate. It means you can’t use your gold or platinum for now.

For another option, try equipping the weapon with a scope attachment. Using a scope makes the glare not happen since you aren’t aiming down the sights.

Hopefully, the fix for the Modern Warfare camo glitch problem releases soon. Until then, stay tuned here for news about the next update and what it will do beyond fixing this annoying bug.
