Call of Duty League Home Series Weekend Host OpTic Gaming LA Shifts Team Around
Eight of the Call of Duty League teams are gearing up for the most anticipated tournament yet this weekend in the Home Series Weekend Los Angeles. There, the teams will compete in the first-ever weekend to be co-hosted by two teams.
The two Los Angeles-based teams, the Guerrillas and OpTic Gaming LA, will host six other teams to see who will come out on top. Only one of the hosts can do better than the other and potentially defend their home franchise city.
OpTic Gaming LA Changes Up Team Roles
Until then, both teams are making major changes to ensure that the teams are ready for what’s to come. While the Los Angeles Guerrillas are making significant changes, the OpTic Gaming LA team is going for a role reversal.
OpTic Gaming LA will not lose any players or bring in substitutions to replace a main player. Instead, they are moving two existing starting players around to keep things fresh and see how this affects the team’s performance this weekend.
Dashy will move from his main position of the assault rifle player to one of the SMG players. In his place, SlasheR takes over the main assault rifle position for the starting lineup. This effectively changes up who will lead and who will move around the map quicker.
The decision was made on the official Twitter account for the team. In a video clip, the team’s general manager Muddawg revealed the new direction the team is going. Muddawg notes in the video the reasons behind this important decision.
How This Affects the Team and Players
In a strange twist of events, SlasheR and Dashy signed to the team even though they are main assault rifle players. This is unfortunate since the current state of the game pushes for only one of them to use assault rifles.
This results in one getting to do what they do best while the other will need to use submachine guns. Before, it was Dashy who took over the important assault rifle role while SlasheR relegated to the SMG spot. With this switch, though, it will now be the opposite of that.
This will let SlasheR step into the controlling role of taking over those key positions and taking on the enemies from afar. At the same time, Dashy can use his more aggressive playstyle to get all around the map, taking out opponents in that classic close combat situation.
This change might not be the biggest one that OpTic Gaming LA could have made before the event. Currently, the team sits in dead last place in the Call of Duty League. It is the only team to have no points whatsoever after a few weeks of play.
Why This Change Is Important
There are three other teams, including its co-host team, barely beating it with 10 points to their names. Even if the league is getting started, Optic needs to make changes to make up for the lost ground.
Out of four matches thus far, the team lost all of them while it has only won three of the 12 rounds. That is very unfortunate even at the start of the first season of the league. So, we hope this change helps them out.
They need it, too. The Home Series Weekend LA event is their place to shine as the co-hosts alongside the Los Angeles Guerrillas. It remains to be seen how their changes will help or hurt them, but we will find out this weekend.
The first match of the entire event for OpTic will be against their co-hosts Los Angeles Guerrillas. The two teams will square off for the first time, so it will determine which team is better and whose changes have helped them the most.
Unlike OpTic, the Guerrillas are making some insane changes ahead of the upcoming event. The team has only won one match thus far. They also removed more than half of its starting lineup with three of the players replaced by one substitute and two fresh amateurs.
Hopefully, this is in hopes of making up for the Guerrillas getting a bad start in Minnesota at the launch event. Against the home team Rokkr, the Guerrillas lost after forfeiting a round win due to rule-breaking from one of their players.
The removal of that player, along with their former team captain, could be the change necessary to possibly defeat OpTic. We won’t have to wait much longer to find out. The Home Series LA event kicks off March 7 and concludes on March 8.
