Blizzard Announces Plans to Fix Hearthstone Game-Breaking Bugs

by in General | Nov, 11th 2019

Blizzard has finally addressed the Hearthstone game-breaking bugs that the game has been dealing with for some time now. Players have been struggling through a ton of major issues for the game. Many of which originated from the most recent update for the game.

Blizzard’s Plans to Fix the Hearthstone Game-Breaking Bugs

Blizzard announced in a blog post on Reddit the plans to fix the Hearthstone game-breaking bugs in an upcoming patch that will be released next week. It is currently scheduled to happen either Monday or possibly Tuesday, with hopes that it will be sooner rather than later.

This means that players will only have to deal with the bugs that are plaguing the game right now through this weekend and, hopefully, a fix will be released sometime early next week. These bugs come from the most recent patch for the game, and we have details on the fixes for them.

The game’s community manager Chris Attalus released some preliminary patch notes for the upcoming update and what the hotfix will be doing to address the problems that the game has right now. This patch will be known as 15.6.2 and will be following up on the latest patch 15.6.

What Issues the Upcoming Patch Will Fix

First and foremost, it will deal with the issue of where the game would not be working as it was intended to as well as fix any crashes. Those crashes would happen to players under certain circumstances, but Attalus didn’t offer any specifics regarding how it comes about.

The next fix is that players should be able to reroll the daily quests as the game intended to happen. Rerolling daily quests and the quests themselves were changed up significantly in the most recent update. Starting with that update, they were supposed to have a more streamlined reroll system.

Not only are there new quests for players to complete, but older, less popular ones were cycled out. There are two main difficulty levels for the quests in the form of easy ones and slightly more challenging ones. The harder ones have better rewards but do ask more of the player.

As such, if a player doesn’t like a particularly hard quest or wants a different easy one, they can reroll, and it will always give them an easy quest. However, this reroll system hasn’t been working as intended since the update went live on mobile and PC. This hotfix is set to fix that next week.

In addition to the reroll system being cleared up, players will also be able to complete the Hallow’s End Arena daily quest and receive its rewards. On the Android side of things, there are a variety of crashes for Android devices that are being fixed with the upcoming patch.

Another major part of the most recent patch that likely led to many of these issues is the release of the Battlegrounds game mode. This new mode is available to players right now and offers an auto-battler game that is different than what we’ve come to know from the main card game.

Though the release of Battlegrounds is exciting, it has come with its own specific set of issues. Part of these issues is how well the game currently runs on mobile devices. This upcoming patch will address memory optimization for devices that have less than 2GB of RAM available.

Some Fixes Are Available Right Now

Hearthstone Sathrovarr Card Transparent

While that sums up the major fixes that are coming for the Hearthstone game-breaking bugs that are in the game, some fixes are already available right now as you read this. This is because Blizzard introduced a new server patch for the game.

Since it is a server patch, this is one that players don’t need to download or update their game to utilize. It should automatically happen once you log into the game next time. The server patch has resolved quite a few issues that players were dealing with.

For one, spells that you use in matches should now trigger the overkill effects. The overkill keyword is an ability that will trigger when a card with the keyword deals damage to a character that has less health than the damage that you have dealt for that turn. Players should see the effects for it now on spell cards.

The next fix is for a new card that is part of the upcoming Descent of Dragons expansion for the game. What is interesting about this Sathrovarr card is that players can get one for free just for logging in right now and starting using it in matches.

The fix for Sathrovarr makes it so that the demon card can no longer target enemy minions with its battlecry. How the card works is that when you summon it to the field, it will activate its battlecry ability. It is a surprisingly effective ability for this legendary demon card.

What it does is allow you to pick a friendly minion that you have on the field and make several copies of it. Those copies will have one sent immediately to the battlefield for using in battle, another that will be in your hand ready to be summoned, and a final one that will be in your deck.

The wording for the ability makes it so that you are supposed to be able only to copy your own minion cards. However, the introduction of Sathrovarr was met with a game-breaking bug that let players copy the enemy minions as well if they wanted to.

This means that players could potentially copy cards that they aren’t even supposed to be able to use, depending on the class and the like. Players will only have the option of copying their friendly minion cards from now on.

Earlier, we mentioned how Blizzard was meant to release some new daily quests for players to use in the game in place of the several unpopular quests that they removed. Well, some of those new daily quests weren’t showing up for anyone and that is fixed in this server patch.

There is also one quest that has some major changes for it. The big boss battle quest changed so that players can complete it by just playing two matches of Battlegrounds, and that’s all that you will need. It also means that players with early access to Battlegrounds will be able to do it, though.

There is a week of early access for the Battlegrounds game mode that is only available to players who pre-order a bundle of the upcoming expansion or purchased either a virtual or physical ticket to the recent BlizzCon 2019 from last weekend.

Thankfully, it is only a week, so everyone else with compatible devices will be able to play Battlegrounds late next week. In the meantime, there are some other Hearthstone game-breaking bugs that Blizzard is currently keeping an eye on and investigating for solutions.

Issues That Blizzard Is Still Investigating

These are issues that don’t currently seem to have solutions and will, therefore, probably take much longer to see a fix in the game. The first has to do with the general login issues that some players are experiencing. The circumstances surrounding how and why these login problems are happening are still being investigated.

There is also the issue that some players are having with their friends list appearing empty. While the list will appear empty and not show any of the friends that the player already has, they are still there, nonetheless. Regardless, this is making some actions and features not work as intended for affected players.

Some decks are missing cards that should be there or are appearing incomplete. This is a strange issue that currently has no fix ready for it. It is possible that reconstructing the deck from scratch or re-adding the missing cards could fix it in the meantime.

Another problem, specifically, has to do with a particular line of Android devices. The Samsung Galaxy Note devices are having an issue where their S-Pen stylus isn’t working with the game as before. The stylus is great for this game since it allows the player to act like they are moving a cursor.

Unfortunately, the stylus pen is not working for some Samsung Galaxy Note devices. Players who are affected by this will need to wait for the problem to be investigated more. Finally, there is another issue tied to the temporary solution for another one.

We know there is an issue with some missing cards in decks, but there is another issue as well. If you attempt to add the card back into your deck, you may encounter a second issue where you won’t be able to add it back in.

If you are affected by this other issue, there is, thankfully, a workaround for this problem. It will tie you over until Blizzard can finish figuring out what the source of these problems are and fix them. First, you will need to remove the missing card from your deck manually.

Even though it is not there, likely, the game is still recognizing it as there anyways. Once you have physically removed it from your deck, you should be able to add it back in. Unfortunately, there is still the possibility that the issue could spring back up, and you might have to use this workaround once more.

Players Aren’t Too Happy with Blizzard Right Now

However, those are just some of the game-breaking bugs that players are experiencing right now. The Reddit post where Blizzard addresses the upcoming patch is filled with comments of players who are dealing with these problems and ones not mentioned.

Those issues include players who are losing only the golden cards from their decks, a strange one where players can open additional copies of epic cards past the usable number of them in decks, and more. Some players aren’t happy with how long it is taking for fixes.

Some players wish for compensation for the fact that they are dealing with these bugs, and the fix for them is still not here yet. Some bugs like haven’t been solved yet or been addressed by the developer.

The issues all began with the 15.6 patch last week that dropped, offering players access to the new Battlegrounds mode, daily quest changes, the pre-order bundles for the upcoming expansion, and more. It is no surprise that an entirely new game mode has broken a good portion of the game.

It is also unfortunate with the timing of these issues since there is a new expansion due out in the next month. The new expansion is likely taking up most of the developer’s time, so problems like these could only cause more issues overall.

Blizzard is still in a bad place with the gaming community for the recent controversial events. It didn’t help that the BlizzCon 2019 opening ceremony featured an apology for the Blitzchung situation that many criticized.

Being in a position like this, the best thing that Blizzard can do is fix the issues while being transparent about any issues that they aren’t sure what to do about just yet. Stay tuned for any updates regarding the status of these bugs and more.
