Black Ops Cold War Season 4 Reveal Set for This Week at E3

by in Call of Duty | Jun, 8th 2021

In partnership with Geoff Keighley, Activision has announced when we will find out about the new season for Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War and Warzone. The Black Ops Cold War Season 4 reveal is currently set to happen later this week as part of the summer game announcements.

Cold War Season 4 Reveal Scheduled for This Week

The Black Ops Cold War Season 4 reveal was revealed by the Summer Game Fest Twitter account, which is the event hosted by Geoff Keighley of Gamescom Opening Night Live and The Game Awards fame. This event coincides with E3 this year and the other presentations that will happen.

Though it is not technically the same event like E3, it is happening right around the same time and will begin a little bit beforehand with the Summer Game Fest Kickoff Live. This will be a special presentation from Keighley where there will be game announcements and other content.

As a teaser for the upcoming opening event for the Summer Game Fest, the Black Ops Cold War Season 4 reveal was announced for that event. While we do not know what new games will be, we know that Activision and Treyarch will attend.

During the event, players will have their first chance to check out Season 4 for Black Ops Cold War and Warzone. This is touted as one of the world premieres that will happen during the live-streamed event, so players of these two Call of Duty games might want to show up.

When to Tune in for the Reveal

This is not surprising since we saw one of the first major glimpses at Black Ops Cold War last year during the Gamescom Opening Night Live 2020 hosted by Keighley. Call of Duty has been familiar with The Game Awards, too, so this is not too shocking.

If you are interested in seeing the Black Ops Cold War Season 4 reveal live as it happens, it will happen at 11 a.m. PT (2 p.m. ET, 6 p.m. GMT) this Thursday, June 10. It will be the first look at the new season and whatever content will come along with it.

The image for the reveal shows both Cold War and Warzone mentioned, so it is likely that we will see the content for both of them. This could mean that there will be two trailers or one comprehensive reveal that includes glimpses of the new content coming to both titles.

This Black Ops Cold War Season 4 reveal should also include the official release date for the new season. At this time, Season 3 is closing in on its finale. There are only a few more days to complete the battle pass offered for this season.

Season 4 Release Date Will Likely Be Announced

As of right now, the Season 3 battle pass is scheduled to end sometime on June 15, which is just over a week away, so we will likely find out when the new season will start at the Summer Game Fest opening event. It could launch on that same day of June 15, but we would not be surprised if it is June 16, instead.

As for what exactly will be announced at the event on Thursday for the Black Ops Cold War Season 4 reveal is currently unknown. That said, Treyarch and Activision are doing this to actively participate in the massive time of E3 and Summer Game Fest, so we expect something substantial enough.

Sure, it could focus just on the new maps and/or game modes that could be coming in the next season for Black Ops Cold War, but that would be too standard. As such, I expect that there will be a bigger announcement, something that is along the lines of the 80s Action Heroes event that we just had in Cold War.

What We Want and Expect to See Revealed

It will probably be a situation where there is a trailer revealing the new season and its content, with a surprise reveal at the end of it of some 80s movie character or other star showing up in the game next as an operator skin. There are many possible candidates for who that could be, but I would like to see the Terminator or perhaps even one of the horror icons of that time.

This is all pure speculation, but I think there should be something a little bit more unexpected besides the content that we already know will be in Season 4. What I do not expect to be in this reveal is crazy new content for Call of Duty Warzone, though.

Season 3 saw the launch of a brand new recreation of Verdansk in the 1984 version of the fan-favorite battle royale location. As such, players should not expect any new map or anything like that, but some map changes could come to Verdansk 84 that are teased in this presentation.

Furthermore, there will likely be new game modes and weapons that will launch this season and give players something more to do. There are only around six seasons promised of new content for both Cold War and Warzone in their connection to one another, so we are now going to be in the second half of this post-launch roadmap. Stay tuned for what it will look like when we have the Season 4 reveal live later this week.
