Black Ops Cold War Season 4 Details Revealed Including Hijacked’s Return
Today was the beginning of the Summer Game Fest and overall E3 event that is going to be happening over the next week or so with tons of announcements and game reveals. As part of the kickoff event, Activision was in attendance to reveal some Black Ops Cold War Season 4 Hijacked details.
Black Ops Cold War Season 4 Hijacked Map Returns
That is right, we got the first trailer for the new, upcoming season that will begin next week on June 17 and it included just some of the content that players can expect when it drops. The new content includes some new maps, new Zombies content, and the return of a fan favorite map.
Perhaps the most exciting news for the new season for some players will be the long-awaited return of the Black Ops Cold War Season 4 Hijacked multiplayer map. Cold War is bringing back yet another fan favorite locale from the unbelievably popular Black Ops 2 and this time it is Hijacked.
One of the most iconic maps of all-time from Black Ops 2, if not the most popular for some players in the community, the release of Hijacked is going to complete the wish list for maps in Cold War for some players. This will be the first time in a long time that we see this map in a remastered form in a mainline Call of Duty game.
While Hijacked was featured in Black Ops 4 through the Blackout game mode, that was more of a location that you could visit in the battle royale experience rather than the traditional multiplayer map that it was originally created to be in Black Ops 2.
What You need to Know About Hijacked
That is why it is exciting to see the Black Ops Cold War Season 4 Hijacked release as the map will get the opportunity to shine once more as one of the most exhilarating Call of Duty maps of all time. For those who do not know Hijacked, it takes place on a small yacht in the middle of the ocean.
Players will start on one side of the boat or the other, and there won’t be much space between you and the other team. There are some corridors and other interior areas, but Hijacked is a pretty cramped map and has become iconic as one of the most insane close quarters locales in series history.
If you are someone who loves going head-to-head with opponents in quick fights where you have to really be quick with your aiming and shots, this is going to be the map for you. That said, it is not necessarily the best option for other longer-ranged weapons, but there is room for some use there.
For me, personally, the Black Ops Cold War Season 4 Hijacked announcement is pretty great since this is the most important map from Black Ops 2. I remember playing hundreds of hours with my friend in this game even still in 2017, so it holds some (frustrating) but happy memories there.
The Black Ops Cold War Season 4 Hijacked release will see this be the fourth map from Black Ops 2 to join the roster of Raid, Express, and Standoff. Interestingly enough, all four of these maps are currently being used in the Call of Duty League 2021 season, so it would be weird to see that not also happen for Hijacked.
With the current season now heading towards the Stage 4 Major after this week’s LA Thieves Home Series event, it is unlikely that we will see Hijacked there but we do think that it is likely that it will join the lineup of maps in Stage 5, which will likely include the final selection for the season.
Hijacked would be a rather unique map for the CDL since it is small and focuses more on close combat, so SMGs would have even more of a field day here than anywhere else. As for the game modes that could use this map, I think that either Domination or Search & Destroy could work.
Other New Maps and Zombies Content
But Hijacked is not the only new map that was teased in the trailer as there is also a brand new one in Collateral. This is going to be a map designed for six on six and 12 on 12 matches, with the desert location looking like what the ill-fated Satellite map could and should have been.
Amsterdam will be the new Gunfight map with a close combat area in the middle of the city. Beyond that, we only saw glimpses of the new operator skins and other content that will be coming to the game. But, without a doubt, it looks like Zombies fans have something special to look forward to.
It was not confirmed at the event but it does look like the next Zombies main story, wave-based map will be released with the upcoming Season 4 content. We can see glimpses of some new areas that we have not seen before and one particular map that could actually be a possibly new Fireteam location.
But that is just the new content that is coming for Black Ops Cold War. With the connection to Call of Duty Warzone, battle royale fans will be able to enjoy some new features as well. Though no new weapons were really focused on in the trailer, we expect those to join Warzone in the new season.
Furthermore, we see what look to be some map changes for Verdansk 84, so players can look forward to that as well in the next season. Cold War and Warzone Season 4 will be launching in a week on June 17, so stay tuned for our full coverage of it in the near future.
