Black Ops Cold War Double XP Week Appears Alongside Nuketown 84
Treyarch has released the long-awaited first post-launch map for Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War. If you are reading this right now, you can check out the new Black Ops Cold War Nuketown 84 map as well as enjoy some boosted experience to raise your level fast.
Black Ops Cold War Nuketown 84 Map Launches Today
We already knew it was coming since the launch of the game, but we now have the release of Black Ops Cold War Nuketown 84. This version of the fan-favorite map takes the Nuketown that you know and love and gives it a rugged 1984 version that is very nuke-themed, even more than usual.
The new map was added in a recent update to the point where someone could glitch through early and play it, but now everyone can play it as of today. By the time you read this post, it is already available on all platforms, including those from the previous gen and the current one.
The best part about all of this is that the Black Ops Cold War Nuketown 84 map is free for everyone who already owns the game. Gone are the days of having to pre-order the game or purchase some DLC content to see all of the new maps releasing post-launch.
There were only eight main regular multiplayer maps at launch in Black Ops Cold War, which is a bit limited compared to what we are used to (at least later on) for a Call of Duty game. This latest addition is a welcome one that should satisfy those who are already bored of the current maps in the game.
What We Know About Nuketown 84
What is interesting about Black Ops Cold War is that all of the multiplayer maps are brand new ones that we have never had before, minus the Zombies map, of course. So, if you miss the older maps from past games, the addition of Nuketown 84 is a great one.
This 1984 version of Nuketown arrives with a special Easter egg unique to it that was already discovered by a player who got into the multiplayer map early. If you are interested in activating that Easter egg and changing the map’s look, be sure to check out our previous post here.
The launch of the Black Ops Cold War Nuketown 84 map isn’t the only thing that happens today as we also have a double XP week that is happening right now. Rather than the usual weekend of double experience that we usually have, Treyarch is gracious enough to make it almost a full week.
Double XP Weekend Is Here Already
The double XP week begins right now, today, Tuesday, Nov. 24, with the new map launch and will go through 10 a.m. PT on Monday, Nov. 30. Though it isn’t a full week, this is a lengthy amount of time for this double experience instead of the usual double XP weekend.
The week will include double experience for your normal account level and double the weapon experience that you can get online. This is great news since we have only had double XP in Black Ops Cold War once.
Unfortunately, the double XP time period didn’t last for long. With the start of this game here, players will want to make sure to raise your level as high as possible. After all, the first 55 levels are permanent, but you want to reach that max level to get prestige and get ready for the first season very soon.
For those of you who want to check out Nuketown 1984 and get some double experience at the same time, your best bet is to play the Nuketown 24/7 playlist that is available for a limited time where you are guaranteed only to get this map for various different game modes.
Other Fixes and Changes Also Came Today
But the release of this new map and the special extended double XP weekend is not all that came out today in the latest update for the game. There are some minor changes to the game, including adjusting the Hardpoint spawn points to reduce the average travel time to get to the active Hardpoint location.
For the Fireteam Dirty Bomb mode, there is a fix for the UI error that would sometimes happen when loading into Ruka’s match. There is also a fix for the Flak Jacket issue that wouldn’t protect the player from explosive damage in the Hardcore game modes.
There are a few different fixes on the Zombies side of things, starting with addressing the problem where the player could earn a field upgrade charge while the Ring of Fire activated. There is a fix for zombies sometimes using their ranged attack unexpectedly.
And last but not least, there is a fix for a seemingly rare issue where the Megaton would be permanently invincible after splitting, which would pretty much break the game and match in particular. Beyond that, some various stability fixes weren’t detailed that much.
Hopefully, that fixes the problems that many players — including us — were having where the game would crash pretty frequently enough in the middle of matches or when trying to load into a new online match.
