by in Call of Duty | Jan, 23rd 2019

Treyarch delivered a bunch of fresh content in the Black Ops 4 Jan. 22 update. First, the Barbarians special event has started on PS4, which gives players a chance to unlock a bunch of new rewards in the Black Market.

Additionally, a new full-auto sidearm, the KAP 45, can be unlocked too. Finally, Xbox One and PC players have access to the new game modes Gauntlets (Zombies) and Down But Not Out (Blackout).

*PS4 receives all content updates a week before Xbox One and PC

Multiplayer

Barbarians Special Event (PS4)

Unlockable Rewards:

  • New Hades LMG Reactive Camo
  • New Crash skin
  • KAP 45 Pistol
  • New Calling Cards and Gestures

This four-week long Barbarians special event featured in the Black Ops 4 Jan. 22 update has a total of 25 tiers. Also, this event will take place during the current Operation Absolute Zero affair, so players can double their loot as they progress through each tier.

KAP 45 (PS4)

  • Attachments: Rapid Fire, Def Att (Rapid Fire 2), Fast Mags, FMJ, Grip, Hybrid Mags, Stock and High Caliber.

This is very similar to the KAP 40 pistol from Black Ops 2, but it is much sleeker, and you will not be able to dual wield it like the previous iteration. This secondary weapon is unique because of the “Def Att” attachment, which is basically an enhanced version of Rapid Fire.

The recoil will be a pain, but you’ll instantly melt targets up close with that rate of fire — so this pistol will function almost like a submachine gun.

Blackout

Limited Time Mode: Down But Not Out (All Platforms)

  • Squads only.
  • Teammates will respawn after circle resets.
  • At least one team member must be alive for teammates to respawn.
  • Players that respawn will be given a basic weapon loadout.

Xbox One and PC players will finally get to experience this twist on the popular Black Ops 4 battle royale mode. Respawns being enabled will encourage teams to play a lot more aggressively, since losing a gun fight does not mean game over anymore — just make sure one of your squad mates survives the carnage, so you actually have a chance to come back.

As suggested last week, Treyarch has fixed some of the looting issues console players were having in Blackout.

Also, Treyarch recently confirmed “Ambush” will be the next limited time mode coming to Blackout. This variation will only allow players to use sniper rifles and melee weapons.
