by in General | Jun, 12th 2019

For those of you not in the know, the PC Gaming Show is one of the most highly anticipated E3 conferences. Almost two million people watched the last year’s press conference. Even though major publishers have their own booths which are used to announce their AAA titles, a big part of the PC market falls on the PC Gaming Show. Whether you’re a passionate PC gamer or not, one thing is certain – these best PC Gaming Show games ought to spark some interest.

The E3 2019 PC Gaming Show featured almost 30 video game titles. And the diverse array of titles means there’s bound to be several proper jewels for us to experience.

With that in mind, let’s skip the small talk and head straight to the list of the best PC Gaming Show games at E3 2019!

Best PC Gaming Show Games – E3 2019

Ever since 2015, the PC Gaming Show has been on a constant rise. A major burst in popularity is bound to happen this year too. Especially with a whole lot of fuss regarding game store exclusive deals. You know, the never-ending Steam vs Epic Games Store drama. While we certainly won’t get a clear winner for E3 overall, if EGS manages to snatch a few more exclusives their way, Lord Gaben might start panicking…

Let’s put all that aside for now and focus on what matters. Yep, as the heading suggests, this is where we’re going to talk about the actual best PC Gaming Show games. Not a whole lot of them, just the most interesting bunch!

5. Starmancer

Let’s kick things off with a gorgeous pixelated game created by Ominux Games and published by Chucklefish. Starmancer is a space station simulation, similar to the likes of Meeple and MewnBase. Aesthetically pleasing (at least for us old school peeps), and mechanically engaging, Starmancer could become a huge indie hit.

The premise is pretty simple. You awake in a ruined space station in a strange part of the universe. The game will create an environment for you but it’s up to you to go and make your own story. In a lively world with numerous factions and colonies, you’ll witness the forming of new alliances, create various trade deals, scavenge for valuable tools, and mine your way through space to fix and improve your very own space station.

With numerous customization options onboard, lots of cool and engaging mechanics, and a brilliant dose of wittiness, Starmancer could, once again, be a proper hit. It might not be one of the budget-wise best PC Gaming Show games out there, but its charm will definitely move it up the ranks.

4. Remnant: From the Ashes

We’re talking about a third-person shooter with a fair dose of survival mechanisms. The perfect recipe for one of the best PC Gaming Show games, right? It’s made by Gunfire Games, the makers of Darksiders 2 and 3, both of which scored great with the audience. The upcoming Remnant: From the Ashes will be hoping for more of the same.

The story is set in a twisted, post-apocalyptic world with monsters running around everywhere you go. The game throws you in (alone or with up to two partners) and puts you up against dynamically generated environment. The map, the enemies, the NPCs, the quests… everything is dynamically generated.

Remnant: From the Ashes is set to be released on August 20. However, Gunfire Games CEO David Adams stated that those who preorder the game will get to play it earlier.

3. Evil Genius 2: World Domination

The original Evil Genius game dates all the way back to 2004. It was a simplistic, goofy, but also entertaining and highly charming title. In fact, it has 9/10 overall rating on Steam and I suggest you go ahead and check it out. Who knows, perhaps it’ll sweep you off your feet with its irresistible charm.

As for the upcoming Evil Genius 2: World Domination, it’s apparently staying true to its roots. We’re looking at another goofy game that’s based on roughly the same premise. You’re a supervillain and your main goal is to conquer the world. And that’s it. You get to work from there…

When it comes to the mechanics, you’re looking at a fully-fledged real-time base building strategy. With more than a few twists up its sleeves, of course. Unfortunately, the official release date has not been announced. However, once EG2: WD comes out, it’ll most certainly be on Steam.

2. Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2

I fear the worst thing about this game is the fact it won’t be released by the end of the year. March 20 is set as the date when the next iteration of the vampiric masquerade begins. The E3 PC Gaming Show showed us a glimpse of the action, both cinematic and gameplay.

Even though the all-new E3 trailer wasn’t awfully long, if there’s one thing we can conclude from it, it’s that the game’s world looks very well made. It perfectly depicts the atmosphere and it ought to help with immersion and artistic parts of the storytelling.

All in all, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 might not be your typical AA title but it sure has what it takes to suck you right into its twisted little world. If the story fulfills our expectations and if the core game mechanics are up to par, I reckon Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 has a great future.

1. Telling Lies

Yep, at the top of the Best PC Gaming Show games list is Telling Lies. It’s an insanely interesting concept that could bring a dash of fresh air to the industry. Telling Lies is not your typical game. There’s no action-packed shooting, reckless driving, or pretty much anything we usually see in video games. Nope! This is a narrative video game based on live action full-motion video.

Telling Lies follows a series of video calls made between four people. The game gives you various tools to piece the puzzle of their lies and solve the mystery. It’s written and directed by Sam Barlow who already has a similar title to his name, Her Story.

That’s basically all we know about the game thus far. We don’t even know the exact release date. However, since it’s set for mid-2019, I reckon we’ll get to play it within the next two months.

PC Gaming Show E3 2019 – Summary

As you can see, the genre diversity is absolutely amazing. And we’ve just scratched the surface here. As said in the introduction, almost 30 games were announced at this year’s PC Gaming Show. With several AA titles and surely one or two indie jewels, I’d say this year’s PCGS was a huge success.

If you’d like to watch the PC Gaming Show in full you can do so here.

In fact, E3 2019, in general, was huge, in my books. The quantity and quality of newly announced games are off the charts. With Cyberpunk 2077 and Keanu Reeves holding all the meme potential, I just can’t wait to see what the internet comes up in the next few days.
