Battlegrounds Mobile India Launch Party Will Be the Game’s First Tournament

by in PUBG Mobile | Jul, 7th 2021

Battlegrounds Mobile India is finally out in the country where PUBG Mobile was once banned, and players on both Android and soon iOS can enjoy battle royale once more. To celebrate the recent launch of the battle royale mobile game, the Battlegrounds Mobile India Launch Party has been announced.

Battlegrounds Mobile India Launch Party Announced

The Battlegrounds Mobile India Launch Party is the first tournament ever to be held for the mobile game. Even though it is pretty much just a palette-swapped version of PUBG Mobile, it is still technically a different game entirely and has not had any esports events thus far in its short life.

The creators of both PUBG Mobile and this latest version of it, Krafton, are hosting the Battlegrounds Mobile India Launch Party as the first official competitive event. Fans and players alike will not have to wait too long, either, to see the event unfold online in India.

The Battlegrounds Mobile India Launch Party will be taking place on Thursday, July 8, and through Friday, July 9. The two-day event will be a short and sweet one with not a lot on the line for the teams and players involved, but it will still be fun nonetheless.

There are 18 teams that have been announced at this time for the Launch Party tournament. They will likely be the competitors for the first esports event for Battlegrounds Mobile India. All 18 teams will compete in the event, but the format has not been revealed at this time.

What Content Creators Will Be Involved

However, we know that the 18 teams are being led by 18 of the most influential and biggest content creators from India. They are the team’s captains, with three other players joining each roster to fill out a full squad of four players on each of the 18 teams.

While we do not know the full rosters of the 18 teams in the event, we do know who the content creators are who will be leading the teams for the Battlegrounds Mobile India Launch Party. You can find the full list of the influencers who will be in the event below:

  • Alpha Clasher
  • Antaryami
  • Bandookbaaz
  • Clash Universe
  • Classified YL
  • Dynamo
  • Gaming Guru
  • Ghatak
  • Godnixon
  • Jonathan
  • K18
  • Kronten
  • Maxtern
  • Mortal
  • Ronak
  • Sangwan
  • Shreeman Legend
  • Snax

Those are the 18 personalities leading the teams that will be competing in the upcoming Battlegrounds Mobile India launch event. Though there will be at least 72 players competing in this upcoming tournament, the actual scope of it in terms of prizes is pretty small.

Prize Pool and Other Details

Likely because this is a smaller event just there to celebrate the launch of Battlegrounds Mobile India, the prize pool will only be 600,000 Rupees in total. That is equal to only approximately just over $8,000 for this single event, and that is the total prize money, not what the first-place team will receive.

That said, it is great that this event is happening in general, and, likely, it can only go up from here moving forward. We should probably see even bigger and better future events for Battlegrounds Mobile India, especially as the game grows over time.

After all, it is not currently available for even iOS users at the time of writing this. It is in an early access state and, therefore, only available for Android players. This will change in the future, but we have no date at this time as to when the other mobile platform will be able to enjoy it.

Furthermore, the game has not been out for a full month yet for all Android users in India, so there is a chance that the population of the game is still small right now with more room to grow as more and more players can find out about it and jump in to see what it is all about.

Where to Watch the Tournament Live

For those who are interested in watching the Battlegrounds Mobile India Launch Party live as it happens later this week, you will want to check out either the YouTube channel that Krafton has created for it or the official Facebook page on that social media platform.

Both places will have the tournament shared live as the matches are happening this week. It is unknown if the videos will be available after the fact on-demand, but it might be worth checking YouTube just in case you are unable to watch them as they happen.

The format for the event is also unknown at this time. Still, we presume that the teams will likely play several matches of battle royale together in Battlegrounds Mobile India, with points accrued for the teams’ performances.

Hopefully, the Battlegrounds Mobile India Launch Party event is only the start of the esports events that the game will have. After all, it is unlikely that the Indian pros will participate in PUBG Mobile esports moving forward, even though they are both essentially the same game with some general changes to make sure the Battlegrounds is not that violent the like.

Be sure to stay tuned in the future for more details about the future of the Battlegrounds Mobile India esports scene as we find out more about what Krafton has in store for the new game.
