AtomicMari Announced as Co-Owner of Spacestation Gaming
Mari “AtomicMari”, award-winning TV/digital host is now the official co-owner of Spacestation Gaming. That is huge news for both parties, and she joins the founder of the org, Shaun “Shonduras” McBride to help push the esports org forward into the future. Spacestation Gaming is known for quite a few impressive achievements, but there’s always room for growth and improvement. Now we have AtomicMari as a co-owner of Spacestation Gaming to bring her experience and wisdom to the org.
From SMOSH to Spacestation Gaming:
Spacestation Gaming was founded in 2017 by Shaun McBride and was focused on content and creators. Now they’re an esports powerhouse, with several achievements to their name. They won the 2020 Rainbow Six World Championships, took 5th in the Apex Legends Global Series Championships, and second in the most recent RLCS, so they for sure are a team to talk about. THey’re also the number one ranked team in the North American League.
Mari “AtomicMari” Takahashi spoke about being the new co-owner of Spacestation Gaming:
“As a longtime fan and avid participant of the esports industry, I’ve had my eye on Spacestation Gaming for a while. I deeply respect everything Shonduras and the team have created, so with my love of all things esports, passion for space travel, and shift into the business side of the industry, when the opportunity to join them as co-owner presented itself, there was no way I could pass it up.”
AtomicMari spent 10 years with the comedy troupe SMOSH and was also one of the “Top Influencers in Gaming” by Forbes to boot. She co-founded SMOSH Games and starred in a wide variety of shows on the channel. She’s worked with Polygon (Speedrun on Quibi), conducting interviews and playing games with huge talents. She’s not exactly an unknown in the gaming world.
Mari has done commercial work for Ericsson, Microsoft, Samsung, and Verizon, recently hosted for Netflix and Paramount, has made appearances on Disney XD, Popular Science, and CBS’s Survivor, and has two Streamy Awards under her belt. Mari is also very focused on making a meaningful impact on the gaming and STEM industry, having worked with the Ad Council and ESA for Women in STEM programs and lobbying Congress on behalf of Bill Nye’s non-profit organization, The Planetary Society, to secure funding for NASA.
Shaun “Shonduras” McBride sung AtomicMari’s praises in the big announcement:
“Mari’s incomparable experience and ‘know-how’ in this space made her an obvious choice as our new co-owner. Having worked with her in the past and experienced first-hand what she brings to the table, I can’t wait to once again work alongside her and continue to build one of the best esports organizations in the business.”
So, AtomicMari brings a ton of experience and wisdom to Spacestation Gaming as the new co-owner. She will no doubt bring a great deal to Spacestation Gaming, as they compete in seven esports, with more to come. Rainbow Six: Siege, Rocket League, PUBG, Apex Legends, Smash Ultimate, and iRacing content will no doubt continue from SSG going forward. Spacestation Gaming has also signed some huge content creators for Rocket League – Sunless Khan, Jon Sandman, and Lethamyr, and the Scuffed Cast.
Suffice to say, this is a major announcement, and we’re over the moon for AtomicMari and Spacestation Gaming. With a focus on content and their community is at the forefront of Spacestation Gaming, AtomicMari’s experience is perfect for the org. The two entities align perfectly for their goals and aspirations. AtomicMari will be working hard with the Spacestation Gaming team to help develop the org, and with her experience, big things are surely on the way.
