Apple Announces ‘Unleashed’ Event for October 18

by in Technology | Oct, 13th 2021

Apple has just announced a brand new digital event titled “Unleashed” which means one thing and one thing only: M1X-based devices are finally coming our way! And that, in short, is hugely exciting even if you aren’t partial to Apple or ARM-based SoCs. If the rumor mill is to be believed, Apple will unveil the next iteration of its MacBook Pro line-up; new 14” and 16” models are expected to hit the market in the next month or so and, needless to say, a lot of people are hyped for what’s to come!

Technological advancements always have a ripple effect on the industry as a whole, and that holds especially true for Apple who has historically been the leader in that regard — an envious position which they’ve used in both good ways and bad.

The M1X SoC is touted to be an absolute performance beast with up to 32 GPU cores (a sizable jump from M1’s 8-core configuration). If things pan out as expected, Apple will have yet another winner on its hands, and it could also revolutionize the market, too.

‘Unleashed’ Event — What Can We Expect From Apple?

There have been many wild rumors lately, but most trusted sources agree on the following: the M1X-based MacBook Pros (14” & 16” models) will sport an updated design, mini-LED panels, a much-needed change in terms of I/O — USB-C with Thunderbolt support, HDMI, a full-fledged SD card slot, and even a redesigned MagSafe charging port, akin to the one that can currently be found on the latest 24” iMacs.

Some analysts are saying that 120Hz “Pro Motion Displays” are in the cards as well, but that particular tidbit should be taken with a grain of salt. Both models will pack the exact same M1X SoC with 10 CPU cores (8 performance cores and 2 efficiency ones), along with either 16 GPU cores (for the 14″ model) or 32 (for the 16″ model). Finally, a 1080p webcam will be thrown into the mix, with the base models packing 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.

Heck, we might even get a Mac Mini Pro of sorts too, although that particular device hasn’t been leaked nearly as much as the two aforementioned laptops. We know that it’s in the works, but when it might be unveiled and subsequently released is anyone’s guess at this point.

In any case, we’ll have a lot more to talk about for the Apple Unleashed event in just a couple of days, so stay tuned!
