Apex Legends Season 7 Ascension Revealed, Includes Third Battle Royale Map
Respawn Entertainment has officially announced Apex Legends Season 7 Ascension. The new season of battle royale will be the seventh one, which releases in just over a week. It will be a massive season with a new hero, battle pass, and, yes, the third battle royale map.
Apex Legends Season 7 Ascension Announced
A little over a year since the initial release of the second battle royale map in Apex Legends that changed everything, developer Respawn has revealed that the upcoming Apex Legends Season 7 Ascension will include the third battle royale map for players to play on.
Though details are scarce at this time about the new Apex Legends Season 7 Ascension, we do have some top-down information regarding some of the things that we will see next week when it releases. The release date for the seventh season is Wednesday, Nov. 4.
On that day, players will be introduced to the single most important new feature of the season: a brand new map. As we all expected, the map is formally known as Olympus after the leaks revealed that this map would come someday.
Olympus is a place that you may have heard of a lot in the Apex Legends lore, as it has been mentioned time and time again. It is the home of several heroes in the game already, was the place where Revenant and Loba fatefully met as the former killed the latter’s family, and more.
Season 7 Includes a Brand New Map
This city is one that players have been looking forward to for some time. It was even teased in the past season’s main story surrounding Revenant and Loba. At the very end of that story, it welcomed players to Olympus even though the current sixth season didn’t have a new map.
The third battle royale was originally released in the current season but was delayed to Apex Legends Season 7 Ascension. It will now finally release next week and bring the map count now up to three, showing that this game is well on its way to giving PUBG a run for its money in terms of maps.
For now, we don’t know too much about the Olympus map since it hasn’t been formally revealed as of yet in a gameplay trailer. Respawn may leave some of the details unknown until the Season 7 launch day, but we know a little bit about it.
Beyond the fact that the city connects to so many lore characters, the map will likely be the first city-wide one where the entire location is nothing but one city. Olympus is touted as a beautiful, lush city high up in the clouds above the planet.
Olympus Includes the First Vehicle
The season is named Apex Legends Season 7 Ascension since you are now ascending to the cloud city. The last bit of detail we have for the city map is that players should watch their steps since it is a long way down to the planet below it.
This could be some bits of lore to give you an idea of what the Olympus city will be like, but it could also be a mechanic where a player can plummet to their death if they fall off the edge of the map. This is something that we will have to wait and see.
According to Respawn, we also know that Olympus will be a big place. So, we could be looking at our biggest or at least most dense map yet. To help with the size of the map, Apex Legends is introducing its first-ever vehicle known as the Trident that has room for the entire squad to fit in it.
We have no idea what type of vehicle this will be like a car or a flying one and so on. But what we already know about is the next legend who will release in Apex Legends Season 7 Ascension. The very first announcement for the seventh season was the next character.
New Apex Character, Battle Pass, and More
That character is none other than Horizon, a brilliant astrophysicist who escaped a black hole and used her newfound sense of gravity to promise someone she cares about. Her skillset is still unknown, but we imagine there will be some vertical, gravity-defying parts of it.
The release of Apex Legends Season 7 Ascension means that there is a new ranked season and ranked Season 7. This will mean a reset for those ranked players down some tiers. You will have to restart the climb to earn those precious rewards.
There is a new battle pass with more than 100 exclusive items that you can get, including legendary skins and more. Clubs are coming as well, offering players the ability to create a community of players who they wish to hang out with.
And last but not least, we know that the start of Apex Legends Season 7 Ascension will also mark the release of the Steam version of the game. Players will no longer need EA Origin to play the battle royale title and carry over their Origin progress to the Steam version.
Season 7 of Apex Legends will release in just over a week on Wednesday, Nov. 4. We will have more details regarding the new Olympus map, Horizon’s skillset, and more when the patch notes drop sometime next week.
