Apex Legends Revenant Character Data Mined to Reveal Abilities, Two Stances

The most recent update for the popular battle royale game Apex Legends brought it largely back into the spotlight with a major focus on shaking up season two. For starters, it released the long-awaited solo mode for a limited time that allows players to finally shy away from the trios mode that the game exclusively has.

But that’s not all that the update did. It also released the limited time mode called Iron Crown that brings with it the solo mode. Of course, with any new update, there are new files within the game’s data for the data miners to sift through. And it didn’t take long for the miners to find some interesting tidbits.

New Character Revenant Leaked in Data Files

The biggest of these is the rumored Apex Legends Revenant character. Revenant is considered as one of the new heroes that will likely join the game in the future. Revenant is known as the Nightmare Simulacrum, and veteran data miner in the community That1MiningGuy revealed additional details in a YouTube video.

Interestingly enough, Apex Legends Revenant might seem unfamiliar to those of you who have been following leaks in the past since his name is totally different than before. Previously, Revenant was known as Blackout in the data files. As such, it is possible that that was a simple codename and this new name is going to be the final one.

In addition, we have some details about what Revenant will look like. Since he is a simulacrum, we know that he is going to be a robot of sorts. For those who don’t know, the simulacrum are robots with the consciousness of a normal person living inside of it.

General Revenant Details

There have been characters like this in the Titanfall series like Ash. But the leaked details don’t just give an idea of what the character will look like but what his final build may actually end up being. Apex Legends Revenant stands apart from the rest of the cast due to his unique ability.

Revenant will most likely be the first hero in the game to have two stances in the game that allow him to switch between, similar to MOBA characters like Hel from Smite and Elise from League of Legends. Revenant will be able to switch between these two stances under certain conditions and get new abilities depending on which stance he’s in.

Apex Legends Revenant begins by using his normal stance where his basic abilities are. Starting with that stance, we know what some of his abilities will be and how he will likely switch to his second stance. The first of Revenant’s abilities is his passive ability called Infiltrator.

Revenant Normal Stance Abilities

Infiltrator allows you to walk while you are crouching faster and also climb walls in the game higher. This passive paints Revenant as an assassin of sorts who will scout ahead or behind enemy lines for the rest of the group to give some surprise attacks quickly.

Beyond his passive ability, though, we also have his first tactical ability. This one is called Mark for Death and what it does is allow the player to shoot out a poison dagger. This dagger will attach to the target and the player will be able to see the targeted enemy for up to 60 seconds if they press it again.

However, this rather overpowered ability does have two catches that will keep it in check. The first is the fact that if the targeted enemy heals themselves up to full health, the mark on them will be removed. In addition, the player will immediately be notified when they are hit by Mark for Death.

The second tactical ability that Revenant has is Poison Bomb. What this ability does is throw out a poison bomb to the location of your choosing and the bomb will both damage and slow down the target. Since it is a bomb, the data miners presume that it will also deal area of effect damage to the surrounding area.

Finally for this stance, we have the ultimate ability that Revenant has and it is called Death Recall. This is a unique support ultimate that allows you to release a totem that protects anyone who uses it from being killed. When the player is about to be killed, they will instead be teleported to the totem with 20 health remaining.

This is a fascinating defensive ability that, of course, requires the affected player to quickly heal up or risk dying again. In addition to doing this, Death Recall is how the player will switch to their second stance called the Shadow stance that allows the player to switch to a different role in the group.

Revenant Shadow Stance Abilities Detailed

While in the Shadow stance, your abilities are mostly different. The one exception to this rule is your passive ability Infiltrator. This ability will still behave the same as before and allow you to walk while crouching faster and climb every wall higher.

But what has changed in the Shadow stance is the first tactical ability Shadow Walk. When you use this ability, the character will move silently around the map and at a faster speed for six seconds. Interestingly enough, the cool down for the ability resets when you kill another player.

This promotes the fact that Revenant is an assassin of a sort as you are encouraged to use Shadow Walk to get in close quickly and silently to get a kill. Then the game encourages you to do it again, making it extremely useful for team fights and taking out whole trios on your own.

The second tactical ability is called Shadow Step and has a similar use in battle to the previous one. Using this ability will send out a Shadow Revenant that you can teleport to by pressing the button again. Like Shadow Walk, this cooldown resets when you kill an enemy.

The final ultimate ability for Revenant is called Shadow Door. What this ultimate does is allow you to create a doorway through any wall for five seconds. This allows you to jump through a wall, surprise an enemy, and kill them quickly and silently.

We don’t know how the player will switch back to the original stance but it is possible that the completion of Shadow Door will revert the player back to the normal stance. There is also the possibility that many of these abilities will change between now and the final release of Revenant.

For one, there is no character currently that has more than one tactical ability at one time. Since both stances show off two tactical abilities to use, there is the possibility that you will be able to choose before each match which ability to equip for the round or one of each stance’s tactical abilities will be removed soon.

How Revenant Will Likely Work in Battle

Regardless, here’s hoping that the general stance-switching mechanic for Apex Legends Revenant remains in the game when he finally releases. It is an interesting feature that could keep everyone on their toes as you won’t know which abilities the character will be using when you first come across them.

In addition, there seems to be a general theme of assassinating that Revenant will play off of at all times. However, the two stances seem to focus on different ways of doing this. The normal stance seems to be more of a mix between sneaking around and supporting your teammates.

On the other hand, the Shadow stance seems to be more exclusively built towards scouting, assassinating, and playing solo. This will be a great class for solo players as well as team players as you will be able to move ahead silently and either start the fights or join them effortlessly.

We will have to wait and see, though, since there is no idea when the new character will release in the game. After all, there are at least two other characters, Crypto and Rosie, who are likely going to come out before Revenant does. As such, we wouldn’t expect the character to release until next season at the earliest.
