Apex Legends Level Cap Increase and More Announced

Respawn Entertainment is gearing up for the holiday season in a big way for Apex Legends with changes to the popular battle royale game, including the Apex Legends level cap increase. The best part is that the changes are coming very soon.

Major Apex Legends Changes Coming Soon

In a blog post, developer Respawn Entertainment revealed a lot of new changes and additions including highly requested features like an Apex Legends level cap increase, overall changes to the player level progression system, and more.

Players can enjoy new rewards as well as the progression system that encourages players to purchase and earn more of the Apex packs. There are some significant changes to those unlockable crates as well with different ways of earning them.

All these changes are coming on December 3, the same day as the Season 1 drop for Call of Duty Modern Warfare.

Apex Legends Level Cap Increase Revealed

The most significant change to the progression system is the new level cap, which considerably increases how many levels are in the game. Currently, there are only 100 levels for players, which is standard. With this new update, it will go from 100 to 500.

Many players reached the max level of 100 and have had no reason to continue progressing. It gives players many months of progression available to them online, including more free rewards.

To make up for the fact that now there will be 500 levels in the game instead of 100, the experience required to hit that original max level of 100 is far less than it was initially.

The total experience to level 100 reduced so it should easier for newer and lapsed players to reach the original level cap of 100 and gain all its rewards.

It also means some significant changes to the Apex packs that you can unlock in the game. These crates are free at certain levels in the game, allowing you to randomly receive a cosmetic item ranging from a skin to some in-game currency and more.

Before, players could earn 45 Apex packs throughout the 100 main levels. With the Apex Legends level cap increase, that number has changed exponentially. Players can earn 199 Apex packs during the 500 levels of the progression system.

How it works is that levels two through 20, players can receive an Apex pack every single level that they reach. But this all changes from levels 22 through 300 where players can only get Apex packs every two levels that they reach in the game.

From there, it will change even more with levels 305 through the new level cap of 500 only getting one Apex pack every five levels rather than two. Thankfully, the new changes to the Apex pack rewards will be retroactive.

So, any newly added Apex packs throughout the first 100 levels that you missed will be given to you. Before, there were only 45 Apex packs earned in the first 100 levels. That is now increasing to 59 Apex packs in total, so players already at level 100 can expect 14 more Apex packs.

Beyond the normal Apex packs that players can get occasionally, every single level will guarantee the player 600 legend tokens that can be used as one of the in-game currencies.

Also, players can continue earning more legend tokens once they reach the new level cap of 500. Every 18,000 experience that a player earns in the game at level 500, they get 600 more legend tokens.

Gun Charm and Reward Changes

Besides the new level cap increase and Apex pack reward changes, there are other changes to the overall progression system. For one, players receive a new reward for free while leveling up in the form of gun charms. While these cosmetic items have been around, some new ones are guaranteed.

Players can earn a new gun charm cosmetic item every 100 player levels that you reach. Presumably, five different gun charms can be earned this way. More gun charms are being added to the update on December 3.

Thirty-six new gun charms are added to the game with this update. It does mean that it isn’t too likely that you will get one of them but, considering how many you can earn, you could see a few of these.

If you are interested in a specific gun charm, you can find them in the item shop. They will be part of the rotating items for players who prefer to do the direct purchase and know exactly what they are getting.

There is also new badges for players to earn. Every 10 levels in the new level cap increase starting at 110 and going to 500. Players can earn a new level badge that will mark the occasion.

Experience and More Changes

There are also changes to the experience for a portion of the game. Under the old system, players experienced a sharp spike in experience needed to level up, starting at level 26 and moving forward.

Before that, it was relatively easy to level up and didn’t take long, but it took much longer from those levels and up. With this new progression system, the experience needed to level up from levels 20 through 58.

This is great for newer players so that they don’t have to deal with a harsh experience curve during those levels. They should get more rewards faster through level 58. Players have five percent less experience needed to reach level 100.

Players somewhere in the gap of 20 through 99 might find themselves at a new level. You might have more experience than necessary for that level so you could end up higher.

However, this doesn’t affect the players at level 100 already. The maximum experience necessary for leveling up is constant at level 58 (was 26 previously). Players need 18,000 experience to level up and remains constant throughout the new levels to 500.

Players won’t have to wait long. These changes arrive with an update on December 3.
