Apex Legends Grand Soirée Arcade Event Revealed
It has been a while since Apex Legends has had a full-blown arcade event where players can buy tons of cosmetics for their characters, earn rewards, play through a variety of limited-time modes, and so on. Well, the latest Apex Legends Grand Soirée event changes all of that.
Apex Legends Grand Soirée Event Revealed
Respawn announced the new Apex Legends Grand Soirée arcade event is launching very soon. It looks to be the most extensive and varied event ever seen for the game. There is truly something for everyone in this upcoming event.
The Apex Legends Grand Soirée arcade event will send the current season out with a bang. The developer did this with the end of Season 2 and the start of Season 3, so the timing isn’t surprising.
What is shocking is just how chock full of content the upcoming event is going to be. There are limited-time modes and other content previously hinted at in leaks from data miners. It is all going to be here together in a single event rather than broken up as we initially expected.
To reveal the upcoming event, EA released a new gameplay trailer showing some of the rewards you can receive, purchase and the various game modes available. It is truly an event unlike any other for the battle royale game, so without further ado, let’s look.
Seven Limited-Time Modes Announced for the Event
By far, the stars of the Apex Legends Grand Soirée arcade event are the limited-time game modes. During the duration of the massive event, there will be seven different game modes for a brief period.
These events aren’t just little changes on the core formula of the game either. You don’t have to expect only simple modes like solo or something else. These have new mechanics to figure out, gameplay features we haven’t seen before and fun tasks to complete.
There is a mix of familiar game modes we have seen before. Also, there is a good number of new ones that should please every player out there. The Roaring Twenties-inspired event kicks off this new year and decade with the popular Gold Rush Duos mode.

Duos is a fan favorite on its own. It is typically the type of competitive game mode you see in other online multiplayer games like this one. However, the Gold Rush version ups the antics even further with a streamlined experience.
You and your partner go into a battle royale mode that has the twist where you will only find gold items. No more lame commons, uncommon and rare weapons. You can pick up legendary items everywhere, including the traditionally care package exclusive Kraber, Mastiff and so on.
Like the other six limited-time game modes, the Gold Rush Duos will only be around for about two days in total. The second event follows it in the Apex Legends Grand Soirée arcade event and that is the new Live Dive Live game type.
For two days, you can enjoy this odd streamlined version of the normal respawn experience. One of the standout features that others copied is the fact that you can revive your teammates by picking up their dog tags and taking it to a respawn station.
Well, this challenging way of reviving a teammate is out the window in the new Live Die Live mode. When a player dies, they are guaranteed to respawn without you ever having to pick up their dog tag or take it anywhere. The problem is that it might take some time to happen.
Whenever the ring closes in and a new circle is formed, dead teammates be dropped off to rejoin their teams all at once. While this does make the whole process easier, it also means you could have a ton of players respawn at the same time.
This could lead to crazy moments in the latter portions of the match when the circle is small. Suddenly, the powerful players can prey on the weaker ones who just came back. Of course, this mode brings up the question of how the teams will be eliminated for good then. Likely, it will simply be based on the whole squad taken out for no respawns to happen for them.
The third game mode to come out in the event is also one of the most exciting that we have heard in a long time. It is the third-person game mode, finally coming out after various leaks and data mining. The mode turns the first-person game into third person so that you can see all of your sweet skins in action finally.
Other Limited-Time Game Modes Detailed

The fourth limited-time game mode to show up in the event is also one of the most challenging ones ever. Always Be Closing is an event mode where players have to deal with a storm ring that never gives you a break. That’s right. It will constantly close from the start of the match until the very end.
Also, if you find yourself caught up in the storm (which is likely to happen), you end up dealing with some serious damage. We don’t know how fast the storm will close in, but it will likely be quick enough to make these matches swift and require some serious strategy.
From Always Be Closing, we come to a returning game mode players will likely remember well and that is Armed and Dangerous. The fan-favorite restricted weapon mode returns but with the twist of being on the World’s Edge map for the first time.
In its original incarnation, it was on the old map of King’s Canyon. But, now it comes back for the current battle royale map. If you didn’t check out this mode the first time, it makes it so you can only fight with certain weapons in each match.
The only guns found in the Armed and Dangerous limited-time game mode are sniper rifles and shotguns. You have to watch out for those snipers and close-combat situations at the same time while dealing with a lack of armor.
Only level one armor pieces will be available in this mode. You can even find the Kraber and Mastiff on the map. It is made even harder by the fact that you won’t find those precious shield batteries often, but healing syringes and the like can be found easily.
The challenging mode is followed by the penultimate game mode in the event: King’s Canyon After Dark. This is another sort of returning mode where players can visit the original map of King’s Canyon, but it will be at nighttime and be very dark.
This is sort of a return because the Halloween event last year saw the nighttime version of this map be the star of the zombies-like infected game mode that you could experience. This is just battle royale, though, but at night where you must watch around every corner for hidden enemies.
Closing out the massive event is the Dummies Big Day game mode, which is all about hilarity and fun. The training dummies from the practice range takes over the players in this mode, making them look like ridiculous versions of themselves.
Introducing the Event Prize Track
A new event feature introduced in the Apex Legends Grand Soirée arcade event is the prize track. The event prize track is a new progression system that will fuel the upcoming event. It overhauls the event challenges as we know it and offers a new way to earn cosmetic items.
Players still have the normal event challenges per usual, but rather than giving you items for completing them, they offer up some points that you can collect. The event prize track keeps track of the points earned during the party-themed event.
At various intervals, as you collect these points, you can earn an item like a weapon skin, legend skin, emblems and so on. It starts with the first interval at 250 points and continues from there with new items given away every 250 points or so.
How the challenges work is tied directly into the limited-time game modes that you can play through. Each of these seven modes has three new challenges to pick up and complete. They are only around for a short time, so you need to complete them fast.
The three challenges given out every two days will be worth 1000 points altogether. It means that completing all three of them gives you a slew of new items for your collection. It is great for those players who can’t turn out for the entire event.
Just showing up for some of the events will likely be enough to earn points for everything in the prize tracker. But if you do show up for all the game modes, you can earn a special badge. Moreover, these game modes can help you complete your normal battle pass challenges as well.
There is a bonus scoring weekend also set for January 17 at 10 am PT until January 20 at 10 am PT. During that weekend, there will be some additional event-specific challenges worth a total of 500 points.
Direct Purchase Event Shop and Event Schedule
As with every other themed event, this Roaring Twenties event will have a direct purchase shop for some of the cosmetics offered. There are a variety of legendary skins offered throughout the event for around $5.
These skins will rotate throughout the event like the game modes, so be sure to check back often to see what is new. Beyond those cosmetic items, there will be six new legendary skins added to the core loot pool at the start of the event. You can craft them or obtain them through the Apex packs. They will also be available for direct purchase.
The Grand Soirée event kicks off January 14 and runs until January 28. Every two days during the event, players have the chance to check out a new game mode and challenges for it.
