Everything You Need to Know About the Apex Legends Armed and Dangerous Mode

by in Apex Legends | Sep, 3rd 2019

The Iron Crown limited-time event ended recently and developer of Apex Legends, Respawn Entertainment, is wasting no time in providing players with the next set of content to enjoy. That’s right; there is going to be another limited-time event for players to check out very soon.

Voidwalker Event Detailed

Just about a week or so after the end of the Iron Crown event, players have the new Voidwalker event to look forward. It is no surprise that part of this event is focusing on the voidwalking legend herself Wraith (who also happens to be the main legend of this author).

The Iron Crown event previously brought with it some changes to a section of the town to make it more centered around the high-speed running hero Octane. This event will focus on Wraith and will shape a portion of the map to revolve around her.

That isn’t the only counteract to the Iron Crown event either. It featured a limited-time match mode for players to compete in and the new Voidwalker event will be allowing players to check out a different new event mode. That event mode is called the Apex Legends Armed and Dangerous match mode.

The new Apex Legends Armed and Dangerous match mode will be offering a different experience for players to check out than any other mode to date. While the previous one focused on the player count alone, this one will be altering the gameplay to cater to a specific type of player and team.

How Armed and Dangerous Mode Will Work

The Apex Legends Armed and Dangerous mode changes how loot and weapons will work on the map, giving a feel similar to what Epic Games has done in the past for Fortnite. What it does is change the type and amount of loot that is found around the map.

In the match mode, you are only going to find shotguns and sniper rifles. That’s it. You aren’t going to find any other weapons in the match from assault rifles to pistols to SMGs and more. All that you are going to find in the game in this mode are shotguns and the sniper rifles.

This severely limits the loot in the game to just a handful of weapons since there aren’t a ton of sniper rifles and shotguns, to begin with. There are only some shotguns in the game, and they include the EVA-8 Auto, Peacekeeper, Mastiff, and possibly the Mozambique.

On the sniper rifles side, there is the G7 Scout, Kraber, Longbow, and Triple Take sniper rifle. That leaves around eight weapons in total at the max around the entire, large map. Whether you like it or not, this doesn’t mean that there will be a lot more of these to go around at all.

Instead, there will only be the shotguns, and sniper rifles, and the loot will be harder to find on the map than ever before. The drop rates of those weapons will likely remain the same, but with the removal of any of the other weapons, you’d typically find.

This means that it will be much harder to gear up at the start of the match. The real question is, what does this mean for the two legendary weapons included in the weapon roster: the Mastiff and Kraber. These are weapons that are already extremely hard to find in the game.

Typically, the only way that you can find the two legendary weapons is by finding them in a drop, which is already hard enough to do. Being the way that things are, it is entirely possible that they will remain just as hard to find in the loot drops as they are in the standard game modes.

This is because the Mastiff shotgun is super powerful and can quickly decimate enemies in just a single shot if done right. The same can be said for the Kraber sniper rifle that can quickly destroy a single enemy with or without an actual headshot on them.

Apex Legends Kraber Weapon

Those weapons are already kept in check by the fact that they are so hard to find. Even when you do find them, you are limited in how many times you can use them. They have a certain amount of ammo that is already built into it when you pick it up, and that is it.

You can’t use your typical ammo to reload the weapon or find any on the map. If you run out of the ammo that comes with the shotgun or sniper rifle, you are sore out of luck unless you happen to find another one of them. As such, it is imperative that you use them at the right time and not just randomly.

But there is the possibility that the Apex Legends Armed and Dangerous might see the two golden legendary weapons work differently just for this mode. There is no word yet, but there is the chance that you will be able to find them on the ground like you would anything else.

That would make sense since there are so few weapons and overall loot available anyways in the mode. At the same time, though, there is also a chance the team will remove drop ships and make it, so you aren’t able to find those legendary weapons at all.

The crazy part is that if you take those out of the equation, then you are left with only six weapons in total that you will be able to find across the map. That is an unfortunately low number of weapons that would make this mode one of the most challenging ever.

And the crazy part is that there is even another weapon that might not be in the mode, but we believe it will be there. The Mozambique is an odd weapon because it is like a pistol, but it functions like a shotgun as well (even if it isn’t a very good one).

It’s one of the most common weapons that you can find in the game. Seeing it in the Apex Legends Armed and Dangerous match mode shouldn’t be too hard to accomplish for players, but that’s if it is there. The question of it not being there has to do with its existence.

The issue is whether or not Respawn Entertainment will consider it a shotgun or a pistol in this particular case. We believe that it will be a shotgun, but there is no guarantee that this will be the case. As such, it is still possible it won’t be there, and that would be insane, lowering the weapons to only five in total.

The only other concern regarding the match event mode is how many players will be able to play together. The previous event Iron Crown had the game’s first-ever solos mode that fans have been requesting for some time. This may do a similar thing and meet another fan request.

The other mode that fans have been requesting since the game’s launch is a squads mode that features a full four-player squad instead of the usual three players. That would make it more in line with other similar games that all allow for four players to party up together.

There is also the possibility that the match mode will be yet a simple twist on the trios formula that the battle royale game is already known for. We will have to wait and see what the player count for the mode will be when it launches very soon.

Armed and Dangerous Rewards and Challenges

Regardless, the Apex Legends Armed and Dangerous event mode will be worth doing for the chance at some epic loot. Just like with the Iron Crown event, there is going to be some awesome loot that will be offered to players who participate in the event mode.

Some of these challenges include getting a certain number of wins in any mode period, while others are related to the Apex Legends Armed and Dangerous mode solely. There are unique rewards like cosmetics and other items that you can receive, so it is well worth checking out.

There are challenges mentioned in the initial announcement for the mode including two tiers of challenges at the least. There are four challenges shown for both tiers of challenges, and you can see the existing challenges for tier one that we know about below:

  • Play the Armed and Dangerous mode: Receive a special Voidwalker badge
  • Get 30 headshots: Get 30 crafting metals
  • Win once in any mode: Wraith loading screen
  • Complete seven daily challenges during the event: Paint the Planet G7 weapon skin

Also, there are also some tier two challenges that players will be able to take on after they have completed the initial tier one challenges. You can find the full set of tier two challenges that we know about below as well as the rewards associated with them:

  • Win five Armed and Dangerous matches: Armed and Dangerous badge
  • Get 60 more headshots: 30 more crafting metals
  • Win once as three different characters in any game mode: Wraith music pack
  • Complete 14 more daily challenges: Get Outside the Lines G7 weapon skin

New Voidwalker Cosmetic Items in the Item Shop

Like what you would expect for the Voidwalker event, there are some new cosmetic items that you will be able to purchase in the item shop as well. There is going to be a Wraith Voidwalker legendary skin that even comes with a custom character select animation to show off.

Apex Legends Voidwalker Schedule

Beyond the legendary skin and frame for Wraith, players will be able to purchase some themed cosmetics that will be much cheaper than most and only retail for $5. They will rotate through the item shop during each of the two weeks that the event is available. The items include more skins for Lineline and Gibraltar as well as some weapon skins, too.

For the first weekend of the event, players will be able to enjoy a double experience weekend but only for top-five finishes and wins. So, you will need to reach those milestones if you are going to receive the bonus. The bonus will also affect both your account level and the battle pass progression level.

How the Voidwalker event will affect the map for the brief period is different from what was done with Octane. It is said that construction crews have unearthed part of a decayed Project Wraith facility on the map and players will be able to visit it during the event.

The research site will even include a functional prototype portal that can be used to get an early jump on the base or to escape from the area and relocate somewhere else. Respawn Entertainment even hints that there will be other hidden lore details elsewhere on the map.

Apex Legends Voidwalker Event Date

Like with the Iron Crown event that introduced the solos mode, the Voidwalker event, as well as the new Armed and Dangerous match mode, will be around for a short time. Players will be able to start very soon as the event begins on Tuesday, September 3, 2019.

The event will only last for two weeks in total and come to an end on September 17, 2019. It is only during that time that players will be able to enjoy all of the festivities that the event has to offer. However, the cosmetics are event limited, which means that they could come back in the future, but it would have to be after six months have passed from the end of the event.
