Apex Legends Arena Mode Featured in Its First Tournament With Blast Titans

by in Apex Legends | Jul, 8th 2021

Apex Legends Arena is one of the most popular parts of the game, and it was just introduced during the Legacy season that we are still currently in. It is the first truly new game mode for the battle royale title and it looks like it will be getting its first tournament, too, with the Blast Titans event.

Apex Legends Blast Titans Event Will Feature Arena

The Blast Titans organization announced that the upcoming Apex Legends tournament that it is hosting will be featuring the Arena game mode as one of the main events there. This particular tournament looks to be the very first major tournament to feature the Arena game mode that we know of.

Unfortunately, this is one that is only happening in Europe at this time. The Apex Legends Blast Titans tournament will feature some of the top teams and players from Europe competing to see who will come out as the winners and receive a chunk of the significant prize pool.

This is an event that is not being hosted directly by EA and Respawn Entertainment themselves, but that does not stop the Apex Legends Blast Titans event from breaking new ground with the Arena inclusion. Touted as a tier-one tournament, this is the first where Arena is being featured.

This is great news as the Arena game mode has become quite popular since its release at the start of the Legacy season, and the general premise of the mode definitely lends itself well to the competitive scene. It will be interesting to see how the pros handle the mode in a tournament.

Dates and Teams for the Tournament

Fans will be able to check out the Apex Legends Blast Titans event when it starts later this month on July 23, 2021. How the event will work is that it will feature two different weekends back-to-back where there will be two different formats in each of them to find out who the winner will be.

The first weekend will take place from July 23-25 and will feature the normal battle royale experience that you would expect from Apex Legends and a tier one tournament like this one. It will feature a total of 40 teams that will be competing for a chance to move on to the second weekend of the event.

During the first weekend, the main maps that will be used for the battle royale portion of the tournament are World’s Edge, which will be the primary map for the event, and Olympus, which will act as the secondary map for some of the matches.

The 40 teams that will be competing there will include some of the very best European Apex Legends teams, like Navi, Gambit, Alliance, and many other ones. You will be able to watch all of the action as it happens live over on the Blast TV Twitch channel, and perhaps even on the individual team/players’ channels but that has not been confirmed as of now.

How the First Weekend of the Event Will Work

The double-elimination battle royale event will kick off on day one with the 40 teams being divided up into two groups. They will compete in the various battle royale matches until the top 10 teams from each group are determined and they will move into the upper bracket, while the bottom 10 teams from each group will move to the elimination bracket.

On the second day of the event, there will be more battle royale matches that will take place in the single upper bracket and the two elimination brackets that will happen. During this day, 10 teams from each of the lower brackets will be eliminated from the tournament.

On the third day of the battle royale portion, the top 20 teams that still remain will compete against one another in a match point format to see where everyone will end up in the rankings and who will walk away with some of the prizes.

How the Arena Weekend Will Work

From there, the second weekend will take place July 31-August 1 and feature the Arena game mode for the first time during the second half of the Blast Titans Apex Legends tournament. Here, the 20 teams left will compete in a single-elimination format tournament that will be seeded based on previous performance.

The final eight will advance to the last day of the tournament in which the grand finals will crown a winner of the tournament who will walk away with a share of the 40,000 Euros prize pool. All five days of the Apex Legends Blast Titans tournament will be shown on the Twitch account across both weekends.

Since some of the very best Apex Legends teams from Europe will be competing in the Blast Titans tournament, it will be a really great place to observe and see how the new Arena game mode nets out when it comes to a high-profile tournament.

Arena Game Mode Breakdown

Arena, for those who have not checked it out yet, is a new game mode that is not battle royale at all. Instead, it is a deep experience that is akin to Gunfight and other competitive game modes where you only have one life to live across multiple rounds.

Two teams of three players each compete against one another to use powers in rounds to see who can eliminate one another. The first team to eliminate the other team in enough rounds will come out on top as the victors of that match.

The maps for the game mode are much smaller locations, some of which are taken directly from actual Apex Legends battle royale maps. As for the ones that will be used in the Blast Titans tournament, there are five in total and they are: Phase Runner, Party Crasher, Thermal Station, Artillery, and Gardens.
