Anathema’s Chains & Hullbreaker Are Up For Testing on the PBE
Two brand new League of Legends items — designed specifically for tanks and split-pushers — are currently up for testing on the PBE! Anathema’s Chains and Hullbreaker are on the PBE and are bound to affect the game in huge, sweeping ways, so they’re definitely worth taking a look at! There’s quite a lot of ground to cover, so let’s dive straight into the nitty-gritty!
Anathema’s Chains — Stronger Than It Looks
With 650 bonus HP and +20 Ability Haste, this peculiar item doesn’t really need a potent active for it to stand out. And yet that’s precisely where its biggest strength lies. It comes with an active component called “Vow” — you’ll get to designate an enemy champion as your Nemesis and then start building a Vendetta over the next 60 seconds (on a 90s cooldown).
Throughout this period, you’ll take 30% less damage from your Nemesis, 1% per Vendetta stack. Once you reach the maximum number of stacks, your Nemesis will have 20% redacted Tenacity while in your vicinity. Interestingly enough, this Active can be cast while dead and at global range. And, of course, all stacks will reset upon choosing a new target — something you won’t be able to do mid-combat. The damage reduction on this item is simply astounding, and the fact that you’ll be able to reduce someone’s Tenacity by a whopping 20% is equally as powerful. This is a relative niche item so you won’t be building it every single game, but when the need arises it’ll definitely come in handy. Neutralizing opposing hypercarries is incredibly important come mid and late game, and Anathema’s Chains will certainly help in the most crucial of ways.
You’ll be able to build Anathema’s Chains out of a fairly simple recipe: Kindlegem and Giant’s Belt. The fact that we’re getting all of this for just 2500 gold is, frankly, bonkers. In fact, one might say that it’s a bit OP, too, but we’ll have to first see it in action before drawing any conclusions. Naturally, these numbers can (and probably will) change over the coming weeks and months.
Hullbreaker — The Split-pusher’s Dream
Riot is replacing Sanguine Blade with Hullbraker, a much broader item that’ll empower AD split-pushers in all the right ways. 2800 gold will net you 50 AD, 400 bonus HP, +150% Base Health Regen, and a most interesting passive. While there are no allied champions nearby, you’ll gain between 20 and 45 Armor and Magic Resist, along with 20% increased damage to towers.
As if that wasn’t enough, nearby large minions will gain between 60 and 135 Armor and Magic Resist along with 200% increased damage to towers. This is a pretty simple item by design, but that doesn’t mean it lacks depth or power. Far from it, in fact. Will this single item mark the return of Jax, Fiora, and the like? It’s still too early to tell, but the potential is certainly there.
Try Them Out!
Anathema’s Chains and Hullbreaker on the current PBE build have a whole lot of potential, and they’re bound to leave a mark on both casual and competitive play. Heck, we’re putting it mildly here! So, if you’re super into ranked and want to get an upper hand over your opposition, make sure to log in and test these items out on the PBE before they ship to live servers alongside patch 11.13 (June 23)!
