Allied Esports Unveils NFL Esports Celebrity Challenge

by in General | May, 11th 2020

Are you looking for a blend of incredible NFL alumni, and intense Call of Duty: Warzone action? Well, Allied Esports has exactly what you’re looking for, as the NFL Esports Celebrity Challenge debuts today, May 11! Starting at 4 pm EDT, the online Call of Duty: Warzone action will be intense.

Of course, this is all going to a good cause. Donations made during the broadcast will be going to provide computers and tech to underserved children who need them for distance learning. This can be done through the NFL Alumni COVID-19 Relief Fund.

All For a Good Cause

The NFL Esports Celebrity challenge is going to feature 32 teams and will have a fantastic lineup of current and former NFL stars. So far, we’ve learned that Ahman Green (former NFL running back), Paul George (Los Angeles Clippers), Brett Phillips (Kansas City Royals), and Aerial Powers (Washington Mystics) will be competing. Perhaps more will be there! You’ll just have to tune in and see how it all goes down.

“We are privileged to continue to use our esports production capabilities to help raise money for the communities most affected by this pandemic,” said Jud Hannigan, CEO of Allied Esports. “Watching professional athletes play video games has become an incredible form of entertainment, especially over the past few months, and we’re excited to deliver NFLA and ESTV’s vision for this important event.”

ESTV is the exclusive esports media broadcaster of the NFLA, and will with that in mind, be covering all of the digital streaming of this tournament. You can find it on Twitch, Mixer, Facebook, and YouTube. If you’re like me, and also have a Roku Box, you can watch ESTV on the Roku Channel. It’s available on Amazon Fire TV, Samsung TV Plus, Dish, Sling, and so many other platforms. There are too many ways to watch this to miss out on the NFL Esports Celebrity Challenge!

We’re really glad to see this going to a good cause as well. So far, they’ve raised $19,588 out of $100,000, as of this writing. There are so many families that are affected by COVID-19, after all. Being forced to homeschool because of the current climate, there are many children who simply don’t have the technology to continue their education. This is a great choice for the NFL Alumni.

“NFLA is excited to expand our commitment to esports as a bridge to serving our community,” said Brent Reece, NFLA’s marketing director. “For the first time, we are proud to organize the Celebrity Challenge to raise money for COVID-19 relief efforts. We especially thank the partners, sponsors, and players that made this possible,”

If you’re like us and enjoy hearing from the players, there will be interviews between the tournament rounds. Hopefully, this becomes a regular event during the crisis, with other players and alumni showing up to do battle in Call of Duty: Warzone (or other games) to bring light to a very worthy cause. The NFL Esports Celebrity Challenge is such a great idea, and we can’t wait to see it.

Allied Esports is well known for its work at the HyperX Esports Arena Las Vegas. They’re veterans in creating consistently fantastic esports content, so you can expect only the best here. COVID-19 has really harmed the way of life for so many families, so Allied Esports and the NFLA teaming up to help out is a brilliant idea.
