Activision Reportedly Takes Down Cold War Console Cheats YouTube Ad

by in Call of Duty | Jul, 12th 2021

Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War is not a perfect game, and despite Treyarch’s best efforts to fight off cheaters, there is still ample opportunity for them to appear inside the game. And it certainly does not help when there is a Black Ops Cold War console cheats ad circulating the internet.

Black Ops Cold War Console Cheats Ad Appears

Such is the case with a supposed ad available on YouTube of all places, and the Twitter account Anti-Cheat Police Department noted this. The account shared news of a Black Ops Cold War console cheats ad that was apparently on the video platform recently.

The tweet noted that the “next generation of cheating is now available” on consoles and has been for a while. However, it has been becoming more of a trend to cheat on consoles, not just on PC as usual, making it harder and harder to have a safe place to play games legitimately.

This is very true, but it does not help that the Black Ops Cold War console cheats ad was posted on YouTube recently. Since the video was so readily available on the platform and likely to show up in the recommended section of people’s YouTube home pages, that is a major problem.

The Anti-Cheat Police Department shared the video on Twitter for those to take a look at, without any links to the actual cheating software or how to get it, and you can see the travesty in action. It does nothing to hide what it is trying to do at just under two minutes in length: help console players cheat.

What the Cheating Ad Shows

The Black Ops Cold War console cheats ad begins by noting that it is the “first in the world” for this sort of cheat on console platforms, like Xbox and PlayStation. It does not just work for PC as other cheats do, but those consoles, too, likely including both last-generation hardware and the latest one.

From there, the gameplay switches on over to Nuketown 84 on Black Ops Cold War so that you can see the “unstoppable” cheat in action. The video has a red box near the middle of the screen that is there the entire time, likely because of how the cheat works.

The Black Ops Cold War console cheats ad is about an auto-aim bot cheat that will instantly take out enemies within the sights of that red box. It starts by showing the player using a sniper rifle and getting instant kills from across the map just because they are within the sights of that red box.

However, some of the moves have legitimate snipers that can pull off in-game, so that is not shocking. But it only gets weirder and crazier from there, switching to even pistols and shooting someone in a split second from a pretty reasonable distance away.

Console Cheats Video Is a Huge Problem

It is here that it is clear that the Black Ops Cold War console cheats ad is showing just how powerful this thing can be if a pistol can take someone out in seemingly a single bullet from a distance that it should not be capable of accomplishing that; at least that fast.

One of the most unfortunate parts is where the AUG user then lines by the spawn point of the Nuketown 84 map and just continuously takes out other players who keep spawning there only to be instantly taken out by the perfect aiming of this bot cheat.

Hilariously enough, random phrases and keywords will pop up over the screen at different moments within the Black Ops Cold War console cheats ad and are not always grammatically correct, either. That said, the YouTube video gets the point across of what it is trying to do: gain more cheaters to buy into the paid service.

At one point, it goes over the bonuses that users can enjoy when they sign up for the premium version of this cheating service, like infinite presets and various settings that they can change. Admittedly, the video at this point does reveal the name of the service and likely how it works.

We will not reveal the name of the service here, but it appears that it works by using the console browser available on Xbox and PlayStation systems. However, it is uncertain how you can gank the system to make that work on the PS5, which technically has a browser. Still, it isn’t easy to make it appear outside certain scenarios, like renewing your FFXIV subscription.

Activision Is Aware of the Console Cheat Service

What is interesting about the console cheat is that it shows that it can expand the kill zone box to an enormous section of the screen, which is troublesome. However, while it can pick off multiple players within the box at once, it does show that it does not typically work well this way, mostly just sticking to one player automatically at a time.

Overall, this Black Ops Cold War console cheats ad is quite concerning since it does promote the use of a seemingly readily available cheating service on consoles. This is common on PC and happens on console as well, but not usually in such a way that you can easily find and implement it like this.

Fortunately, Activision’s original YouTube video has been taken down for copyright reasons cited, so there is the chance that the publisher and Treyarch are now working on taking down this cheat inside of the game. That said, no official statement has been provided at this time. In the meantime, we highly recommend that players be wary when playing on consoles (or PC), especially in League Play, where a loss brings with it a sharp penalty every time.
