2021 LPL Off-Season: Doinb Strikes Again, LvMao to LNG, Xiye Back to WE, Tian to TES

by in League of Legends | Dec, 16th 2021

The 2021 LPL off-season has been incredibly exciting and is slowly but surely coming to its end. Legendary mid laner Kim “Doinb” Tae-sang is back with another batch of roster leaks — a frequent occurrence, one that we’ve all become accustomed to! Fortunately, we also have numerous official signings to report on, so it’s a fairly varied “mix” this time around!

Not that anyone’s complaining: we’ve witnessed many massive twists and turns and could use a breather right about now! In any case, we have a lot of ground to cover, so let’s begin!

The 2021 LPL Off-Season Winds Down

  • Top Esports have re-signed Zhuo “knight” Ding. So, the rumors of him leaving can now finally be put to rest.
  • Chen “Bin” Ze-Bin has now been confirmed as Royal Never Give Up’s new top laner. The same goes for Li “Xiaohu” Yuan-Hao’s role swap back to mid. Yan “Wei” Yang-Wei, Chen “GALA” Wei, and Shi “Ming” Sen-Ming will round out the starting five. What a staggeringly talented roster!
  • Bai “369” Jia-Hao has parted ways with Top Esports and will compete under the JD Gaming banner in the future. Zhang “Zoom” Xing-Ran, formerly JD Gaming, will take his place.
  • Kang “TheShy” Seung-lok will be donning the Weibo Gaming jersey for the 2022 competitive season. After four years with Invictus Gaming, it’ll be exciting to see TheShy compete in a wholly different setting.
  • Yuan “Cryin” Cheng-Wei will re-join his former organization Ultra Prime (previously known as eStar) after having a very respectable (albeit flawed) stint with Royal Never Give Up.
  • Gao “Tian” Tian-Liang has joined Top Esports. The fact that they’ve signed one of the best junglers in the world — and a bona fide behemoth — will no doubt allow Top to leave a mark and challenge for the LPL throne. Tian is supposedly back in top shape and if he can once again perform as well as he did back in 2019, we could be in for one of the most competitive (and unpredictable) LPL seasons in history! “As a top-level jungler, he showed penetrating insight and outstanding performance on the court. Welcome TES.Tian! As per the official announcement, we believe that Tian’s arrival will help the whole team to progress together,” as per the official announcement. And, frankly, we couldn’t agree more!
  • Kim “Clid” Tae-min (of Gen.G fame) will reportedly be joining FunPlus Phoenix for the 2022 competitive season.
  • Former LGD Gaming mid laner Su “xiye” Han-Wei has signed with Team WE.
  • Zuo “LvMao” Ming-Hao and Liao “Iwandy” Ding-Yang will compete for the starting spot on LNG Esports.

These are all hugely exciting signings, and they should, by all means, result in the LPL becoming even more competitive than ever before. It’s also fair to say that the LPL dynasty isn’t going to crumble any time soon. There are just so many incredibly talented players in China, and, as fate would have it, they’ll be spread out beautifully across a myriad of different teams and organizations.

So, if you’re a fan of top-tier LoL, you have something to look forward to!
