2020 Mid-Season Cup Details Leaked
Millions of League of Legends fans across the globe were elated because we’ll be getting a smaller MSI-esque tournament in the form of the 2020 Mid-Season Cup. It’s not as prestigious or exciting as the Mid-Season Invitational, but during these challenging times, it’s better than nothing.
The COVID-19 outbreak affected the world in many different ways, and esports — as a whole — wasn’t exempt from all the chaos. Fortunately, Riot was able to shift all major leagues to online play, but international tournaments took quite a big hit, as was expected.
With the 2020 Mid-Season Cup being just a couple of days away, it was only natural for details to leak sooner rather than later. This latest information comes from Invictus Gaming support Su “Southwind” Zhi-Lin who accidentally leaked the tournament structure during a recent stream.
Four LPL and four LCK teams will compete in a single round-robin. They will divide into two groups of four, and each team will play at least three games. The two best teams from each group will then advance further into the tournament. The event itself will last for four days from May 28-31).

As reported earlier, LCK teams will compete from the LoL Park in Seoul, South Korea, with LPL teams being located in the LPL Arena in Shanghai, China. Riot will create an even online-only environment with ping between 30 to 40 ms to ensure a level playing field.
Coming into the tournament, the LPL is heavily favored and with good reason. Still, the best LCK teams always have something unique to offer and they won’t go down without a fight. Either way, expect fireworks on May 28!
