100 Thieves to Field Six-Man Roster in 2022, Tenacity to Split Play Time with Ssumday
The defending LCS champions 100 Thieves will field a six-man roster in 2022 with Milan “Tenacity” Oleksij splitting play time with the one, the only Kim “Ssumday” Chan-ho. This, frankly, should really come as no surprise — Tenacity has shown a fair bit of promise and while he’s still not on Ssumday’s level, there’s a good chance he’ll be able to bring something unique to the table.
Interestingly enough, the last time the defending LCS champions didn’t make even a single roster change was all the way back in 2013/2014 (Cloud9). This means 100 Thieves will be able to start 2022 off in the best possible way — they already have more than enough synergy to run circles around the vast majority of their peers. Whether that’ll be the case by the end of the year still remains to be seen, but the outlook is bright for Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag stylish organization, that’s for sure.
With that being said, they’ll face some mighty capable opposition. 100 Thieves will probably cruise through the first half of the season, but once their peers get on the same page and synergize, things won’t be quite as easy. Far from it, in fact.
Worthy of the Throne
It’s no secret that 100 Thieves had their fair share of ups and downs throughout the year. What’s important, however, is that they were able to huddle up and deliver once it mattered most: the LCS Summer Split finals. They had shown immense growth and resilience and should be considered as the biggest frontrunners to win the 2022 LCS Spring Split.
There’s but a handful of teams in North America that’ll be able to compete on even footing. Team Liquid, TSM FTX, and Evil Geniuses will all give them a run for their money, and the same goes for Cloud9 — assuming they can successfully navigate the off-season and snag a couple of big names. We’re getting a bit worried for the boys in white and blue, but it’s still not time to sound the alarms. Far from it! They always have a plan and should, by all means, be able to assemble a line-up worthy of respect and admiration.
All in all, 100 Thieves will have their hands full in 2022, and we can’t wait to see how well they’ll do in the face of such stiff opposition!
