100 Thieves May Have Wanted Tfue
You don’t often get to hear about players getting almost signed by orgs in esports, but that’s exactly what we got today from an interview with Nadeshot as he implied 100 Thieves may have rejected Tfue.
In an interview with TechCrunch, Nadeshot and one of his partners Scooter Braun discussed 100 Thieves and its business operations.
During the dialogue, Braun brought up that when he first came on board back in the fall of 2018, Nadeshot and the org had been looking to sign what was considered one of the best players in a specific title, but due to controversial remarks they made Nadeshot shut down the negotiations, deciding that it would bring too much harm to their brand.
While it’s nice to see that Nadeshot and 100 Thieves won’t let things slide just because someone looking to join the is popular, the comments led to a flurry of discussion online as to who the mysterious player they almost signed was.
Did 100 Thieves Almost Sign Tfue?
The player couldn’t be someone from League, as the best players in the world don’t tend to be very controversial in that game.
As Fortnite is really the only major game from that period that 100 Thieves was involved in, it had to be someone from there.
Based off of Braun’s comments, the most likely candidate that they were trying to pick-up was Tfue, who by that point in time was already being recognized as one of the biggest names in Fortnite. Tfue famously has gotten in trouble for comments he’s made in the past, including making remarks that sounded racially charged on stream, for which he has been banned from Twitch several times.
The only other player that could be possible from there would be Cloakzy, though he’s known as a player who doesn’t really throw around toxic comments like that, so it couldn’t be him.
With Tfue being the only possible option, it’s no surprise given Tfue’s history that Nadeshot decided to can the deal, even with his major following at the time.
With how things worked out between FaZe Clan and Tfue, the move was definitely a wise choice to make, and 100 Thieves has acquired many other big-name streamers, including CouRage and Valkyrae.
This is all speculation on whether or not they tried to get Tfue, however, and we’ll likely never officially know who 100 Thieves were pursuing, but it’s fun to imagine Tfue being apart of the org.
