Fortnite battle royale is all about fighting and seeing who will be the last player or team standing at the end of the match. Surviving the storm circles and taking out other players is the name of the game. But Fortnite Party Royale aims to offer something entirely different.

Epic Games Is Changing Up Battle Royale

Epic Games announced earlier this week with the launch of the new patch that Chapter 2, Season 2 is getting an upgrade with a brand-new game mode that is unlike anything else that we have seen before. That new game mode is Fortnite Party Royale and it fills a unique niche.

Previously in the game, there were only the Creative and Battle Lab modes besides the normal battle royale game modes of solos, duos, squads, Team Rumble, and so on. Though there is so much variety in Fortnite, it has mostly stuck to the general formula of fitting into certain archetypes.

You have the standard battle royale matches that are at the core of the game. This is the bread and butter of Fortnite, allowing players to compete in last person standing matches. On the other hand, there are less harsh modes like Team Rumble where death isn’t so final.

There are respawns and bigger teams, allowing for a less serious but still competitive take on the Fortnite gameplay. From there, you have even less fighting-centric modes like Creative and Battle Labs. Here, players can compete if they want but they can also create and share as well.

These are great, but they still mostly end up having a high barrier of entry that can keep some players from wanting to check them out. In addition, they mostly require you to already have groups of players to play with. But what if you just want to hang out with strangers? This is something that is missing and Party Royale could change things forever.

What Is Fortnite Party Royale?

Fortnite Party Royale is the latest game mode that Epic Games has released and it fills the necessary gap that the game has been missing for some time. If you don’t want to play against other players to eliminate and be the last one standing, this is great for you.

At the same time, if you don’t want to create or have to look for others to play relaxing games with, this new game mode might be for you as well. Party Royale is a new game mode that is totally violence-free. There is no fighting in this game; only partying it up.

It is meant to be a fun social place of sorts where players will hang out with one another, whether they know each other or not. You can queue up with strangers and meet new people in the game mode. In these crazy times that we are living in, this is the perfect mode for Epic Games to release.

It is no news to anyone that we need a game mode like Fortnite Party Royale. With the COVID-19 global pandemic still sweeping across much of the world right now, many people are still stuck at home. Even as places in the United States and other countries open up, there are still many users who are sheltering at home.

This could be because of the local government’s mandates, recommendations, simply trying to protect yourself from the infection, having to shelter because of pre-existing conditions, and so on. There is a myriad of reasons why, but the situation is like this nonetheless.

Because of this, there is one thing that so many people are starved of right now: human interaction. Even if you do live with others, you could get tired of seeing the same friend or family member over and over. We’re only human, after all, and are prone to getting annoyed, in fights, etc.

And then there are those who live alone or don’t see others that often. Human interaction is so important, which is why many have turned to video games. But what you will find is that most games that you play online are all about fighting and violence.

There are few options for just hanging out with others online outside of some VR games and MMORPGs where you can just chat or role play. As such, Fortnite Party Royale not only fills a nice gap in the virtual world for the battle royale game but it fills a necessary place for us as people, too.

How to Play Party Royale

How do you actually play Party Royale? First and foremost, queueing up for a match is pretty easy. All you need to do is have Fortnite downloaded on the platform of your choice: PC, Mac, iOS, Android, PS4, Xbox One, or Nintendo Switch.

Hop into the game and make sure that it is updated. For us, we noticed that the game actually requires a massive update for the Party Royale mode and other changes, so make sure to download and install it if you haven’t already. It is a big update, several times larger than recent ones for us.

Once you are updated, head to the main battle royale lobby as always and change your mode. There, you will see the standard game modes and the last one for us was Party Royale. Select it and you will be able to jump into a match as soon as you want to.

For this, you just need to decide if you want to fill out your party with other random players or just let the game pick your teammates for this fun, battle-less game mode. In fact, you can even invite your in-game friends to play with you in this mode if you want to as well.

You can hang out with your regular friends if you want here or make new friends from the strangers that you will meet on the island. So, when you get into a match, how do you actually play it? Well, fighting one another isn’t one of the ways you play it; that’s for sure.

Instead, you explore the island with your friends, swim around, hang out, and just use the time you have there to do whatever you want. There are likely going to be challenges in the future to complete, but for now, there are various activities that you can do.

Party Royale Dates: When Does It Start and Leave?

If you are reading this right now, you can jump into Fortnite Party Royale and start having fun with your friends or make new ones with the strangers that you meet online. It is available starting this week and will be available for some time in the foreseeable future.

At this time, Epic Games has yet to give an end date for the Party Royale game mode. This is an event of sorts, so there is the possibility that it could only be around for a limited time. This would be unfortunate, but we are here to give you our opinion on the matter.

While Party Royale could only be here for a limited time and leave in the future, we don’t believe that this is the case. We actually think, and quite frankly hope, that it is a permanent addition to the Fortnite arsenal of game modes to play in it.

It is a great idea that is not only perfect right now but will likely be an amazing asset in the future as well once the world returns to “normal” or figures out what the new “normal” will be. It would be a shame for it to leave in the future, so we certainly hope that it is here to stay like Creative and Battle Labs.

That said, there is always the chance that the new game mode will only be here for a limited time. If this is the case, we can likely predict when it would happen to leave the game. Most likely, it is for sure going to stay for the remainder of Season 2.

Season 3 was recently delayed for about a month to happen at the beginning of June when it was supposed to end right around now. No matter what, Party Royale will likely fill that gap for the remainder of this season. And we wouldn’t be surprised if it stuck around through Season 3 as well.

If we had to predict, we don’t think it would leave until well after the end of Season 3 at the earliest, but you never know. The Block and stuff with Risky Reels content have been things in the past that we thought would stick around forever but that wasn’t the case after all. So, be sure to stay tuned here for any future details and play Party Royale as much as you want to, to show Epic that it should stay in the game forever.

How the Party Royale Map Is Different

One thing that might be the most surprising part of Party Royale is that it doesn’t actually have the same map as normal battle royale matches. You might think that it would make sense to have the same island, just with a focus less on the fighting and more on exploring and hanging out.

Lo and behold, Epic Games didn’t think that was enough and decided to have an entirely new map instead. The game mode takes place on a new island that is floating around in the ocean, happening to be the third (more if you count the pre-match areas) major island in the game thus far.

It is noticeably smaller than the normal battle royale island, but it is still a significantly large area that possibly fulfills our desire for another permanent island in the game. It is not only totally different than the normal Season 2 island, but it has its own terrain and areas to it.

There look to be only two or three main towns of sorts on the island, one right in the middle that is nothing like The Agency in the main island and a beachfront area on the eastern side. Plus, there is what looks to be a smaller town of sorts on the southern edge as well.

The rest of the island is composed of beaches, forests, and smaller island areas that you can swim to. These locations are home to the various activities and things that you can do while you are visiting the location for a period of time in each match that you do.

Party Royale Event Rewards

Now, a new game mode wouldn’t be complete without some rewards to go along with it. At this time, any new challenges that will be for the match type haven’t been added to the game yet. This also means that any rewards that would be associated with them aren’t out yet either.

Presumably, there will be challenges in the future for all of the different minigames and activities that you can do on the island. You seem to be able to do things like race, fish as much as you want, glide, and play some ball. There could even be more minigames to come in the future as this mode is expanded upon.

We wouldn’t be surprised if Epic Games had specific tasks for each of the minigames that allowed you to earn some experience for the battle pass or exclusive rewards. That said, there is one main reward that you can get right now if you are reading this.

Potentially for a limited time, you are able to get the very awesome neon wings back bling for just playing one of the Party Royale matches. This back bling is amazing and it supposedly has the opportunity to change colors whenever music is playing, making it perfect for live concerts in the game.

All you need to do to get it is check out Party Royale, so it is at least worth seeing what it’s like. It is possible, though, that this reward will only be around for a limited time, so we recommend checking out the new game mode as soon as possible, so you don’t miss out on this sweet cosmetic item.
