What We Want to See From Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 7

by in Fortnite | May, 18th 2021

Fortnite Season 6 is the current season of battle royale when writing this, and it will be ending soon. When it ends, it will be time for Fortnite Season 7, and there are plenty of ideas and hopes that we have for the upcoming season, ranging from crafting to the actual theme.

Fortnite Season 6 Is Nearing Its End

After all, the sixth season of battle royale in Fortnite Chapter 2 is coming to an end soon. At the time of writing this, we are just on the precipice of this season’s 10th week, with the ninth one just behind us

The base length of a season is to have 10 weeks of normal content, including the weekly challenges and the like, and then maybe a week or two after that to help transition between the current season and the next one. At the same time, though, many seasons have gone much further than that.

The last season, Season 5, went for a whopping five weeks past its original end date, complete with the weekly challenges continuing at that point. We imagine that a similar situation will happen with Season 6, even if it is just for a couple of more weeks to allow for more development time.

But when those weeks are done, it will be time for another live event to happen in the game that will transition us to Fortnite Season 7. What that event will entail is hard to say as there hasn’t been teasing just yet, so there is room for a lot of speculation.

And that is where we come in. I always have my desires and ideas for what Epic Games could do in the next season. Fortnite Season 7 will be an odd season, in my opinion, but one that could be well-liked by the community.

As I’ll go more into detail in a bit, I think that Fortnite Season 7 will be instrumental, much like the current one, where there aren’t too many flashy changes but the ones that happen are there to pave the way for what is to come in the rest of the current second chapter.

With that in mind, I have come up with several different ideas, predictions, and wants that I have for Fortnite Season 7. Ranging from the crafting system introduced in the sixth season to the actual backstory of the battle royale title, here is what I want to see in the seventh season of Chapter 2.

What We Want From Season 7: Expanded Crafting

If there is something that you will find that is a recurring theme in this post, I think that Season 7 will be an expansion in a way. Many of the issues I had with the current season were because it didn’t do much in terms of the usual changes.

Overall, the crossovers were pretty tame, with no wide-sweeping changes to the meta or island to celebrate characters like Lara Croft and Raven, who launched in the battle pass. Some decent changes happened with Neymar Jr., but that came much later in the season, seemingly compared to other “secret” battle pass characters in the past.

But, that said, while the season felt ironically tame in its content, what it did for the gameplay and background systems is unparalleled. It introduced two main systems, crafting in your inventory and animals that roam the island to hunt down for materials for the said crafting system

Both are key to the current season. I want to see both expanded in Fortnite Season 7. Starting with the crafting system, I want to see a large expansion of it that sees it go to new weapons, ideas, and branching paths for players to explore.

Let’s start with one of the main limitations in this season: the state of sniper rifles. Whether it was to emphasize the bow or what have you, sniper rifles are just seemingly nonexistent in the game right now. I know that isn’t true, but I never see them in matches.

I want to see sniper rifles return and have their own primal and classic mechanical versions for players to craft. This would be a huge shift for the meta in a direction that sniper fans have wanted it to be. Furthermore, I would like to see a general expansion of the weapons that already exist.

The bow has some amazing options allowed for it, but that isn’t the case for the guns out there. You can choose to make a makeshift rifle primal or mechanical, and that is it. This is unfortunate when you stumble upon a primal or mechanical since you cannot do much with it, crafting-wise.

I would like to see one more option available where you can turn your primal or mechanical weapon into one of two options. Like how the bow has two alternate paths for both sides, guns should have that. I think this could be done in one of two ways.

One way could be a little bit more boring but also balanced gameplay-wise, and that is to have specializations in terms of stats for weapons. Let’s take the assault rifle, for instance. If you choose the primal route, maybe your two options are to increase the rate of fire or the damage.

For the mechanical side, maybe your options are to double down the range and accuracy with a tactical assault rifle or choose the burst rifle instead. That is just one way of handling this where it simply gives players the option to pick the stats and styles that work best for them.

The second option is more exciting, though, and that employs a system similar to the bow. Let’s have some wild options like an assault rifle with an explosive alt-fire bullet or flaming bullets that can catch whatever it hits on fire.

A Third Weapon Crafting Option

Another change that I want to see in the crafting department is a huge one: to add a third weapon crafting option. We have the primal and mechanical, or essentially the past and present, but what about a third one: the future?

A futuristic weapon option could channel some Season X vibes and give us some unique weapons to use in the next few seasons. Maybe it would make more of a laser assault rifle or something like that, instead of the normal one and the primal one.

Maybe we could get something like a bow caster from Star Wars or a slick crossbow for the bow. Of course, adding a whole new path to weapons means that players would have to farm for new material. Right now, we only have animal bones and mechanical parts.

It would be great to see the game expand the island more, perhaps in a new futuristic area or two to counter the more primal areas that we have right now. There, you could destroy places or collect some futuristic material, like a core of some kind, to craft with.

At the same time, I could also see something other than a futuristic option. Perhaps we could get a radioactive path or something that deals with Slurpy Swamp or another new area on the island.

More Lore About The Seven

Another major part of Season 6 is that we truly got the introduction to The Seven, a mysterious organization of apparently essential characters to the Fortnite world. Well, we got to meet one of them, at least with The Foundation, who was key to the Season 6 launch event.

While there is plenty of speculation about who The Foundation is, I want to see more of him and the others in The Seven. While I don’t expect a blowout on this organization now, I think two parts could explore this group and their lore more.

For one, I think Fortnite Season 7 is a great chance to free The Foundation and have him be a huge part of the season. Furthermore, the other option is to introduce the second member of the organization, whoever that may be.

I feel that The Seven are just seven famous people from the real world who are introduced in the game with super sweet skins and armor. The Foundation is probably The Rock in real life but with that awesome Fortnite armor on him.

More Crossovers That Matter

What I would like to see that isn’t an expansion of the current season, but a change rather, are crossovers that matter. I wasn’t a huge fan of the random inclusions of Lara Croft and Raven that weren’t super important or key to the season in any way.

Sure, that was how crossovers were in the past much of the time, but Season 2 through 5 changed everything with map changes, weapons, and more, affecting the season overall. We didn’t see much of that in this season. Croft Manor, for instance, was relegated to Creative mode.

I want a return to form for crossovers where, whoever they are, they affect the map somehow. I don’t have too many crossover ideas at this point, mainly because I am honestly totally sold on one idea alone, and I want to see it happen.

I’m going to go ahead and spoil it here: I want Season 7 to be the Jurassic World season finally. It was teased in this season, and it needs to happen then. Of course, this means that we would get some excellent crossover characters that matter to the overall season.

Season 7 Theme: Jurassic World

That’s right; I want Fortnite Season 7 to be the Jurassic World season. It is finally time for a season that is something non-Disney for a change. We’ve had a Marvel season and kind of a Star Wars season, but we need something other than Disney properties at this point.

We haven’t even had a DC Comics season yet, but I think Jurassic World would make perfect sense as the first non-Disney property to get a season in Fortnite. It would be a nice change of pace, and it certainly felt like Season 6 was heading in that direction with the Primal season that we currently have.

I mean, we even got raptors as one of the animals this season. That felt like the little tease that we are going to get more of a blowout on dinosaurs at some point soon. There is no reason why it should wait, either, as the next season would be the place to expand upon Season 6 and make it happen.

I want to see Pterodactyls, Stegosaurus, T-Rexes, and all of that in this season. Have them roam the map, have a Jurassic World-inspired point of interest, and do it already, Epic Games. Give me characters from the series, promote the film series, and give us the chance to fight against a massive new threat on the island besides the usual players. There are vehicles, locations, and more that could happen this way, and now is the perfect time for Fortnite to do this.
